I've already pointed out how laid-back luxe is one of the defining characteristics of how we'll be getting dressed this year. Given the ever-changing state of the world, the continuation of remote working, and an overall craving for comfort, I think the "quality over quantity" mindset is one that's resonating especially well right now. And I'm not alone here. The spring 2022 runways echoed this sentiment, with designers such as Altuzarra, Chloé, and Victoria Beckham reimagining classic wardrobe staples in elevated and luxe ways. And some of our go-to retailers have clearly been taking notes.

While perusing the latest arrivals to hit H&M, I noticed a very similar theme in its assortment: Easygoing essentials such as relaxed tailoring, ribbed knits, and cozy textures were everywhere, proving that this "trend" is one you can easily adopt into your wardrobe without even waiting for spring to arrive. In fact, the luxe staples I found are so good (and their prices are even better) that I don't recommend waiting a beat to try them out. While this way of dressing is extra relevant this season, the 28 items below are honestly pretty timeless.

This blazer would be excellent on its own, but it's even better with the matching trousers.

When I see "premium selection" next to an H&M listing, I know it's going to be good.

The cushy soles make these feel particularly forward.

Every wardrobe will benefit from a boxy coat like this.

These buttons speak for themselves.

Jeans, who?

Shop the matching Ribbed Top ($25).

You just might be one sweater away from looking French.

Socks are often overlooked, but trust me when I say that a high-quality pair is a game changer.

This handbag shape has quickly become my favorite of the moment.

The amount of wear you'll get out of this is ridiculous.

I'm such a sucker for slouchy trousers.

This will make any pair of pants or jeans that much chicer.

I just know this is so soft.

I don't think it gets any more luxe than cashmere ballet flats.

From the wide ribbing to the big collar, this checks a lot of boxes.

The kind of top you can dress up or down.

"Cloud" shoes definitely fall under the umbrella of elevated staples, no?

Not all ribbed dresses are made equally, and this one is especially good.

Well, these could easily pass for a pair of designer heels.

Take a cue from the model and style these with a big blazer.

A collared sweater is a 2022 must.
