The Denim Trend Women Ages 21 to 55 Are Favoring in Lieu of Skinny Jeans
The next big non–skinny jean trend is here, and not only is it chic, but it's also universally loved. While it's true that skinny jeans will truly never go "out" (nor do we want them to), we've just spotted a number of women wearing the next widely popular denim trend and PSA: It's not skinnies.
High-waisted flared jeans are on the rise, and what I love about this denim trend, in particular, is how it appears to work for all women. In my image research, I couldn't help but notice how popular the flared jeans are with women across a variety of age groups—from women in their 20s to their 50s and probably beyond, as well.
Unlike the dramatic bell-bottoms of the '70s, though, these modern flares are updated for the present day with a more streamlined silhouette that's thankfully much more wearable. The other piece of good news here is that these jeans couldn't look any better with the wardrobe staples that you probably already have sitting in your closet. Fashion girls have already been all over the sophisticated jeans, too, styling them with these aforementioned staples like heeled ankle boots, bodysuits, and blazers.
To highlight this new denim trend, we rounded up how fashion people are wearing high-rise flared jeans now and included our favorite pairs.
Style Tip: Give the roomy denim a polished update with a crisp button-down shirt.
Style Tip: Look for a high-waisted pair so you can style them with cropped tees and jackets.
Style Tip: Put a fashion-girl spin on the flared denim with heeled ankle boots and a boxy blazer.
Style Tip: Wardrobe basics like a white T-shirt and trench coat feel all the fresher with the jeans.
Style Tip: Create an ultra-sleek silhouette when you pair a structured blazer and turtleneck with flared jeans.
Style Tip: Reach for a pair with some distressing for a more relaxed vibe.
Style Tip: The jeans' high rise and flared-out ankle create the illusion of longer legs (if you're into that).
Style Tip: Tuck a bodysuit into jeans for a simple but polished look.
