I'm a Fashion Editor—5 Holiday Outfit Trends I'm Buying and the One I'm Skipping
This holiday season, my calendar is filling in with a number of festive parties and events. The agenda includes everything from cocktail parties in NYC to dinners visiting family in Arizona, and I’m mapping out looks for each of the occasions. My approach to dressing this season is to rely on some of my core wardrobe staples, while mixing in some directional new clothing items and accessories.
While I’ll be skipping anything that feels too on-the-nose or expected for the holidays such as a red and green color palette, but have some other outfits in mind, In the accessories department, I’m feeling inspired to wear everything from faux fur stoles and decorative clutches to cocktail watches and tassel necklaces. I’m also eyeing versatile, yet impactful, pieces like satin mini skirts, cape tops, and car coats. Ahead, shop the holiday dressing looks I’ll have in rotation this season.
The Furry Stole Look
A faux-fur stole is the key accessory to make any outfit feel more festive.
The Cape Look
Minimal yet impactful, wear a draped cape coat with anything from tonal jeans to trousers.
The Draped Dress Look
A sweeping draped gown adds just the right amount of drama for a holiday party.
The Tassel Necklace Look
Every fashion person is wearing a tassel necklace right now, holiday party or not.
The Satin Skirt Look
I always look for pieces to wear that can work long beyond a holiday event—like a satin mini skirt.
