Every Fashion Person Will Tell You This Subtle Detail Makes Flats Look Infinitely More Expensive
Maybe we should blame Matthieu Blazy for the frenzy surrounding cap-toe ballet flats. Ever since he took over as creative director of Chanel, the house's signature shoe style has been more popular than ever. But the fact of the matter is that the shoes have always been it, especially in recent years.
Ballet flats became popular again with the rise of coquettecore and have remained the fashion-person flats of choice, but we're now starting to see a rise in the cap-toe variety—no doubt a result of the new Chanel craze.
It's funny how such a small detail can do so much, but there's something about a cap toe that really elevates the vibe of the shoes effortlessly. Ask any stylish person you know and they'll agree. Maybe it's the color contrast or the fact that it makes clinking your toes together like you're Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz infinitely more fun.
Whatever it is, we're into it, and as the weather gets warmer and our walks get longer, there's nothing chicer to slip into than a pair of ballet flats. The silhouette will make 10k steps a breeze, and the cap-toe detail will keep the look fanciful enough to end up anywhere.
