5 Fashion Editors Just Revealed the Top Items on Their Summer Wish Lists
There are few people who spend as much time contemplating clothes as fashion editors do. After all, it's packed right there into the job title that a healthy obsession with all things style should, at the very least, be a prerequisite.
With summer on the horizon, I thought I'd tap into the knowledge of five fashion experts in order to find out what is on their wish lists for the season ahead. Whether they're planning their re-entry wardrobes or outfits for summer weddings and much-needed holidays, these lists are thoroughly researched and only contain the best of the best.
From sandals to sunglasses, the editors have certainly selected items that make an impact. Some editors are focusing on shopping vintage or supporting small businesses, while others have discovered brands with sustainability at their core. Either way, you can bet each list is unique to the woman who created it. Keep scrolling to see the top five items on the wish lists of UK fashion editors.
Nana Acheampong, Shopping Editor and Celebrity Stylist at Fabulous
"With summer weddings firming back on the social calendar, this dress is my ideal wedding guest look."
"The Attico can do no wrong in my eyes. These mules will go with pretty much everything in my wardrobe for summer: denim cutoff shorts, dresses, wide-leg trousers and miniskirts—you name it!"
"It's the simplicity of this bag that I have fallen for coupled together with the chunky gold-chain handle. I can't wait to wear!"
"You can never go wrong with a co-ord in my eyes. I love this set because I know I'll easily be able to dress it up or down by changing up my shoes and accessories."
"I'm a huge sunglasses collector, and these are top of my wish list for summer. They give me vintage Versace vibes but with an updated feel in neon pink. They are sure to make any outfit pop."
Pénélope Goldstone, Fashion Editor at Marie Claire
"I love ethical UK label Tove's timeless summer dresses, and this one is no exception. The origami detail on the shoulders really elevates it from a simple basic, and I love how you can easily dress it up for dinner with a kitten heel."
"I've got a thing for 'ugly' footwear. I wore last year's Ginza flip-flops to death, and now I'm coveting these caged sandals, a more affordable version from Arket."
"I love tailoring no matter the season, and this ivory linen set by cult French label Loulou Studio (the brainchild of influencer Chloé Harrouche) will look great with the aforementioned shoes."
"This is technically a ridiculous hat, but I'm hoping to go on holiday to the South of France this summer, and it will be perfect for it. Not only is it highly Instagrammable, but it's going to protect my skin from all those harmful rays."
"Australian label Matteau always does great resortwear, and I'll be investing in this crop top–and-skirt combo this summer. It's far more flattering than you'd think too."
Charlie Teather, Fashion Editor at Glamour
"When it comes to shutting the door on winter wardrobes for another season, knitwear is always one of the last things to go for me. Perfect for this typically unpredictable late-spring weather, this floor-skimming ribbed-knit maxi—with its perfectly flared sleeves and punchy statement buttons—has been at the top of my wish list since the moment it dropped."
"Accessories will always be my go-to for a splurge, and while his wildly popular mini Chiquito bags are a tad impractical for me, Jacquemus has reeled me in with this pillow-like canvas tote. The black topstitching gives the soft shape a bit more of an edge, and I love that the fabric is padded to ensure a lifetime of plumpness."
"I'm frustratingly fussy with footwear, but these ankle-strapped sandals are one of the chicest pairs out there right now—high-street or otherwise. A super-chic (and practical!) upgrade to the classic flip-flop, they look just as great with cropped jeans as they do a midi dress or cutoff denim shorts."
"Shirtdresses are a real weakness of mine, but so often the fabric is too starchy to forgive their shapeless silhouette. This little number sports clever design details that render it universally flattering, with a cinched waist and wrists, side splits and a flared cuff doing all of the work for you."
"Potentially my shoes of the season. There are so many on-trend elements going on here—from a ruched fabric and slimline platform to a monochrome colour scheme and toe loops—but there's also something so timeless in their simplicity that makes them more than worth their price tag."
Natalie Hammond, Fashion News and Features Editor at Grazia
"I'm obsessed with these gobstopper rings from Goo Lab, which you can specially commission or buy via Depop."
"We haven't had much sun, but perhaps these frames might coax it out!"
"I've been mulling over a baseball cap purchase for a while and love this shade of lilac."
"I don’t own anything from Story MFG but have always admired its ethos. This long-sleeve T-shirt, hand-embroidered and block-printed, is right up my street."
"I'd like to take these printed beauties for a spin with beaded necklaces and Birkenstocks."
Joy Montgomery, Shopping Editor at Who What Wear
"I love wide-leg trousers, and now that I'm finally starting to venture out for both work and play, I'll take any opportunity to don a bit of tailoring with my fave Arket white tee and big sunnies. This vintage pair is pretty much the perfect silhouette."
"A striking pair of sunglasses has the power to radically transform any outfit, and you don't get much more statement-making than an oversized '70s style. I'd wear this pair with everything from midi dresses to denim all summer long."
"I'm not usually a big logo person, but there's something about the retro appeal of Gucci's print on the classic Horsebit bag that just speaks to me. The perfect throw-on-and-go crossbody."
"I haven't really worn a close-fitting dress for years, but this summer's offering has well and truly changed my mind. Coming in weightier fabrics and non-clingy fits, they are unexpectedly flattering and look great with chunky sandals. This COS iteration is right at the top of my wish list."
"The moment I saw this playsuit I couldn't believe how premium it looked. The silhouette is just perfect: loose on the leg and arms and cinched in the middle with a wide belt. It reminds me of the Gucci style I lusted after last year, just with a sub-£60 price tag. Dreamy."
