While our friends across the country tend to spend much of September stocking up on snow boots, heavy layers, and cozy sweaters galore, transitional summer-to-fall dressing means something entirely different here in Los Angeles. On the West Coast, we walk a fine line between wanting to wear fall styles and not wanting to overheat.

"Layers are a must," instructs Raeann Langas (aka Rae Everyday), a writer, model, podcast host, and body-positive activist whose IG feed and TikTok presence are a source of serious sartorial sunshine year-round. "It can be hot during the day and chilly in the evening. I love dressing for fall in L.A. because you can play around with light layers and really don't ever have to worry about getting too cold—or ruining a killer outfit with a bulky coat."

Read on to see three dreamy summer-to-fall looks she's styled featuring her favorite pieces from PAIGE, a classic California brand that's a one-stop shop for L.A. girls from Santa Monica to Silverlake (and, of course, those of us who just wish to dress like them).

One key transitional trend Langas is endorsing well into fall? White denim—with a Western vibe, no less. "Cowgirl chic" has clearly reached the West Coast, and she'll be wearing this two-tone layered look from morning to moonlight. "I like to start with the basics and sprinkle in trendier pieces," she says. "Having great basics like T-shirts and jeans that fit you really well is key to building any look."

When it comes to great basics, PAIGE has you covered—quite literally—from head to toe. "I think incorporating white pieces is a great way to transition into fall while still feeling fresh," she adds. "And since the jeans are longer, they look great paired with these chunkier clogs." Add a silver belt to complete the look, and don't forget the one accessory L.A. girls never leave home without: a good pair of (sustainable, eco-friendly!) sunglasses.

She's also not mad that the '90s continue to serve as a source of style inspiration for L.A. girls far and wide. To that end, she's mixed and matched some of the decade's favorite fabrics into a fun yet simple look that feels quintessentially fall. "I loved these pieces separately," she says, "but mixing different fabrics together adds more interest. And of course, these corduroy pants called for a platform boot."

When it comes to eyewear, however, she tends to gravitate toward classic styles. "I like to find timeless frames that work with my face shape and that I can wear with tons of different outfits," she says of this versatile option. "I always make sure I have a gold pair or a silver pair to match my other accessories."

Last but not least, if there's one thing we L.A. girls love about fall dressing, it's that there's no weather-induced expiration date on our go-to rompers or jumpsuits. "This really is the perfect fall transition piece," Langas says of PAIGE's edgy, elevated romper made from luxe vegan leather. "Nothing says fall more than leather, but this one-and-done piece makes it suitable even while the weather is slightly warmer."

From head to toe, this look—right down to the brand's slouchy, buttery-soft Carrie boots—is perfect for an evening out with friends, even as the sun begins to set and that ocean breeze picks up. "It's sexy but comfortable, and you can dance all night!" she confirms.
