Living in Southern California where we have mild, blink-and-you'll-miss-it seasons, it can be hard to get into a fall mood. Growing up, going back to school signaled fall's arrival for me—I associate the season more with new binders and gel pens than with changing leaves and spiced lattes. Since my last first day of school was many moons ago, I've had to rely on something else to get me excited about fall: all the cozy new clothes

I don't know about you, but looking forward to a new-season wardrobe really helps me get used to the idea of kissing summer goodbye. I know we're still in the middle of sweltering August weather, but the autumnal equinox will be here before you know it—only five more weeks to go! With that in mind, scroll down to shop the four categories of fall clothes I'll be buying right out of the gate.

1. Slouchy Pants

2. Cowboy Boots

2. Cute Sweaters

4. Colorful Blazers

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
