5 Chic Fragrance Combos That Will Have Everyone Asking "What Scent Is That?"

I know what I'm going to say is going to put off some fragrance lovers, but I love to mix my fragrances. I know that when you really love a perfume it should stand strong on it's own, and all of my fragrance combinations are made up of heavy hitters in their own right, but if I'm being very honest, hate smelling like everybody else.

Combining fragrances gives me a unique scent combo that no one else has. If you can't tell I take my fragrance game seriously, and to me, the best compliment you can get when you meet someone is being greeted with a "You smell good." After gatekeeping my top scent combos for long enough, I figured it was time for me to let you guys in on the top five fragrance combinations I wear the most. Some may surprise you, but trust me, all of them are winners.

Parfum De Marly: Delina + Le Labo Rose 31

If there is one perfume combo I wear that always gains me lots of compliments, it's this one. You have one of Parfum De Marly's most popular fragrances, The Delina perfume. It was my first perfume ever from Parfum De Marly and ever since I have been a huge fan of the brand. This scent is popular for its floral yet seductive scent with strong accords of Turkish rose, peony, and lily of the valley and notes of lychee, rhubarb, nutmeg and bergamot. I have to say, I get why it's so popular. I pair it with another fan favorite, Le Labo's Rose 31. Listen—you will literally smell like sultry rose just walked by. Le Labo is known for making muskier scents making them perfect to pair with a sweeter scent. Rose 31 isn't like your typical rosy perfumes, as it has more of the essence of a rose mixed with spices and woodsy scents.

To me, adding a spray or two of Rose 31 with Delina sort of elevates the scent, taking it from something sweet and girly to a little more mature and seductive. Trust—this combo is a winner.

Phlur Father Figure + Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud Satin Mood Eau de Parfum

Editors and fragrance lovers alike can't seem to get enough of all things Phlur. Once I started sampling around its fragrances, I fell hard for a few, but the woodsy scent Father Figure was my favorite. Rooted in lushness, the brand describes this scent as "green fragrance that captures the intimate feeling of cool." I have to agree with this description, since when I first got a whiff of this earthy and woody scent, I knew it would be a favorite of mine for years to come. It's the perfect fall/winter scent with notes of lush fig, jasmine dew, and sandalwood. How dreamy, right?

Pairing Father Figure with Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Out Satin Mood is the ultimate luxurious fall winter scent duo. Maison Francis Kurkdjian is synonymous with high quality fragrances that smell expensive and elevated. Oud Satin Mood fits that definition perfectly, it has notes of violet, vanilla amber, and damascena rose this perfume is velvety and dreamy. I remember wearing this scent to a dinner with a friend and the first thing she said to me was "What perfume are you wearing? I need it." This combo of scents is elite.

Le Labo The Noir 29 + Byredo Bal D'Afrique 

Le Labo describes its scent The Noir 21 as a fragrance that "combines depth and freshness, softness and strength through permanent oscillation between the light of bergamot, fig, and bay leaves and the depth of cedarwood, vetiver, and musk." As a Le Labo lover myself, I have to admit this one is definitely in my top three favorite fragrances it offers (and there are a lot of good ones).

With this one you can really smell the cedarwood, which makes it perfect to pair with Byredo's Bal D'Afrique. This Byredo fragrance has notes of African marigold, bergamont, violet, and cedar wood, so it's one of those that stands out among the rest. Byredo's website describes this scent as Ben Gorham’s "love letter" to Africa and is focused on beauty and fantasy. Every time I put it on, I instantly feel more elevated and sophisticated. Bal D'Afrique also has a Moroccan cedarwood base, so these two pair together delicously. If you want to smell elevated, woodsy but not too sweet, this combination is for you.

Sol de Janeiro After Hours Perfume Mist + Jo Malone London Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne

Some fragrance companies want you to focus on one fragrance at a time, but not Jo Malone London. Its fragrances are designed to be mixed and match with each other. Everyone I know who has tried a Jo Malone London fragrance has made their way to Wood Sage & Sea Salt, one of my favorite perfumes and candles. It smells just like it sounds: woodsy and a bit masculine.

Balancing out that scent with limited edition Sol De Janero After Hours Perfume Mist has been one of my go-to fragrance combinations lately. This scent smells like the ultimate sultry body mist with notes of black currant, midnight jasmine, and amberwoods. I'd categorize this as a date-night scent. 

Maison Margiela Replica By the Fireplace + Byredo Vanielle Antique Extrait De Parfum

This is my go-to cozy fall scent combo. Maison Margiela Replica By The Fireplace smells exactly as you imagine and transports you to a cozy fireplace in Aspen. The brand describes the scent as "a warm fragrance within is echoed by the Polaroid photograph of a fireplace printed on the outside carton." It comes in a candle as well that I highly reccomend buying as a gift or for yourself. To me, it just seemed obvious to pair this scent with Byredo's Vanielle Antique. With vanilla being in the name of the perfume, it's obviously very present in the scent. It also has a heart of amber and cashmere woods. You can thank me for this one later—I'm that confident you're going to be just as obsessed as I am.
