No Concealer, No Problem: 16 Under-Eye Patches That Refresh Tired-Looking Eyes
I'm a beauty editor, and I love eye patches for many reasons, not least of which is the fact that I can use them when I have time and when I don't. Let's say I'm spending a lazy Sunday morning at home, engaging in some self-care before the start of a new week. As my hair mask soaks in my strands and my self-tanner develops on my body, I'll pop on a pair of eye patches for a soothing, spa-like element. Then, I'll take my time sipping my coffee as they go to work to refresh my tired-looking eyes.
On the flip side, let's say I woke up late on a Wednesday with five Zoom meetings ahead of me. My eyes are puffy and my dark circles are, well, circling. I pop on a pair of eye patches while I frantically brush my hair and apply just enough makeup to look presentable—concealer, blush, and eyebrow gel, if you were curious.
There aren't many skincare products that can do both. So, yeah, I always keep a small hoard of eye patches in my skincare collection. There's just nothing else that can auto-correct dark circles, puffiness, uneven texture, fine lines and wrinkles, and more. Ahead, check out the 16 best under-eye patches to use on lazy mornings and busy weekdays alike.
Formulated to minimize the look of dullness and dark circles, these serum-soaked eye patches are full of caffeine, kojic acid, and arbutin. The first targets darkness, the second is an antioxidant that evens tone, and the third fades hyperpigmentation. To put it simply, they're incredibly brightening.
First things first—these Chanel eye patches are obviously iconic. They're like the designer bag of eye patches, and I feel so luxe when I wear them. Beyond that, though, they have a high-tech, anti-wrinkle formula that firms and smoothes the skin. Did you really expect anything less from Chanel? It uses a Chanel-exclusive compound isolated from the edulis morning glory plant. Paired with a vitamin complex, it targets fine lines and wrinkles as well as all signs of fatigue. Simply apply the intense roll-on serum and put the hydrogel masks over the top. The set includes 10 pairs of eye masks.
I love Patchology eye patches. So much so, that I have no less than six (yes, really) boxes of them in my collection. While there are so many good ones with so many different benefits, I think I might love these illuminating ones best. They use a cocktail of antioxidant-rich and brightening ingredients—including green tea, mulberry extract, and vitamin C—to erase dullness, dark circles, and hyperpigmentation. Trust me, these are so good. I also want to give an honorable mention to the Restoring Night Eye Gels ($20), which contain retinol and peptides, and the Serve Chilled On Ice Firming Eye Gels ($15), which contain cloudberry oil and peptides.
The one downside to eye patches? They're hardly sustainable since so many of them are one-time use. Dieux set out to fix that by creating these "forever" eye patches. They're thin, lightweight, and reusable, and they keep serums and creams close to the skin to maximize absorption (that means they turn your favorite eye cream or serum into a mask in of itself). Simply apply a product, wait for it to get tacky on the skin, and place these eye patches over the top. Wear them for 10 to 20 minutes, peel them off, and wash them with a small amount of soap.
Another reusable option, these eye patches from French brand Talika are hands down one of my favorite ones to use. Since they're thicker and sturdier than other eye patches, I swear they lift the skin on my under-eye area to bring fresh circulation through. Each time I apply them, my skin looks noticeably brighter, smoother, and tighter after 15 minutes. It's thanks to their triple-action formula that smoothes wrinkles, reduces dark circles, and deflates puffiness. The best part is you can use them up to three times before replacing them.
When my skin is dry, my under-eye area will look dull and the texture of my fine lines will look more noticeable. When that happens, I reach for a pair of hydrating, skin-soothing eye patches, like these from Skyn Iceland. The hydro-gel formula feels nice and cool on the skin, and ingredients like peptides, hydrolyzed extensin, and Icelandic glacial water work together to plump, smooth, and firm stressed skin. They're the ultimate bounce-back eye patches.
These aesthetically pleasing foil eye masks were designed to target the big three—dark circles, puffiness, and dehydration. Ingredients include hyaluronic acid, calendula extract, aloe leaf, camu camu, peptides, and 17 amino acids. But what really sets these eye patches apart, in my opinion, is the foil texture. It's anti-slip, traps the good-for-skin formula underneath, and prevents evaporation.
Sure, these eye masks look different, but they're also formulated differently. Unlike other options on the market, these contain bakuchiol, a known retinol alternative, and copper peptides, which are proven to boost collagen production. They're also fragrance-free, which means they won't irritate sensitive skin. It's one of those rare skincare products that includes everything I love and leaves out everything I don't.
You know a skincare product is good if celebs like Margot Robbie and Victoria Beckham use it. That's the case with these luxe eye patches from 111Skin. With retinol, niacinamide, peptides, hyaluronic acid, and rose-hip extract, they refine the under-eye area for a well-rested appearance. Apparently, celebs wear them before they hit the red carpet, so yeah, I'm stocking up.
This is a skincare brand I was recently introduced to, and I've been absolutely loving it—especially these eye patches. The star ingredient is green tangerine, which contains 10 times more vitamin C than normal tangerines. That means it has potent brightening and anti-aging abilities. As for the patch itself, the material is designed to mimic the dense structure of tangerine peels in order to closely adhere to the skin.
The whole point of these eye masks it to offer a "Botox-like" effect. Each one of the bamboo sheet masks contains five different peptides, arbutin, licorice root extract, neuropeptide, and hyaluronic acid. There's even Matrixyl 3000, which is an ingredient that mimics human collagen. They're the real deal.
Two things make these eye patches incredibly special. First, they're infused with retinol, which is rare when it comes to eye patches. That means they offer all the benefits of the anti-aging ingredient, including lifting, firming, and revitalizing. Second, their strange shape is intentional—it's meant to treat the eyelids as well as the under-eye area. Brilliant.
I discovered these eye patches when I saw them in the Iceland airport during a layover. I was instantly intrigued, and I resolved to try them as soon as I got back to the States. Once I got my hands on a pair, I found that they have a gel-like texture that offers an instant cooling effect. A skin-drenching combination of hyaluronic acid and glycerin moisturizes and plumps the skin. They were the perfect post-flight skin treat. No regrets.
I've been using these SkinMedica eye patches for a while now. Each set of the hydrogel masks contains three effective ingredients for the under-eye area. There's golden root extract, which is antioxidant-rich, baker's yeast extract, which is moisturizing, and golden herb extract, which has an anti-aging effect.
Naked Beauty was founded by Catherine Chang, MD, a board-certified plastic surgeon and reconstructive surgeon. The brand's eye patches are loaded with antioxidants, including vitamin C, niacinamide, and ferulic acid. Add minerals and caffeine extract into the equation, and you have a formula that diminishes dark circles and protects the skin from signs of aging.
These Peter Thomas Roth eye patches are tried and true. They soak the skin in moisture thanks to multiple sizes of hyaluronic acid, marshmallow root extract, and caffeine. I like to keep the jar in the fridge, so every time I apply them, they instantly soothe my skin and deflate puffiness.
