This Coat Trend Is "Boring," But Every Fashion Editor Still Wears It

As a fashion editor, it'll probably come as no surprise that I have quite a few coats in my wardrobe. At the last count, it was at least 10, as I like to have a few options to keep my outfits fresh and interesting for the whole of autumn and winter. But the one that makes me feel the chicest? My almost-to-the-floor vintage Jaeger beige coat.

What is it about this piece of outerwear that trumps the others? For starters, it's the piece every fashion editor has in their wardrobe. On paper, it's a little "boring," but it works with every outfit I own, and makes even jeans and a T-shirt look like I've made an effort. The long coat is also a piece that can be iconic and completely showstopping. You need only look to Margot Tenenbaum or Holly Golightly to know that.
