I'm Always on the Lookout for the Perfect Hoops—Here Are My Favourites
It has taken me years to build up a collection of hoop earrings I am in love with. I often get asked where they’re all from, and after half a decade of searching for the best ones, I am certain that you can’t beat the mini hoops from Maria Tash, By Pariah, Cat Bird and Saskia Diez. A carefully curated ear of mini hoops can look really chic and considered, but gorgeous sculptural earrings have the same impact too.
Oversized hoops are no longer considered to be Kat-Slater style, as they’re now a fashion must-have. When it comes to oversized versions, shoulder-grazing hoops from the likes of Bottega Veneta are ideal for keeping your outfit fun over Zoom, and then parties when we can actually go to them again. Keep scrolling to shop this season’s pairs that I love.
1. Chunky Hoops
Style Notes: Chunky hoops are always popular and that’s not about to change any time soon. The wider the hoop, the better. There are some beautiful creations out there, but here are a few pairs we love…
This classic pair makes them ideal for wearing everyday.
Alighieri knows how to do good jewels, and the same goes for its hoops.
We’re totally obsessed with these Simon Miller hoops that are on the right side of quirky.
2. Mini Hoops
Style Notes: If you’re a fan of mini hoops, then like me, you’ll know that more is more. Building a strong ear game takes some time, but here are the best places to start…
Simplicity if often key. These work great stacked with other mini hoops or just worn alone.
Arket's jewellery offering is pretty new but it's already selling out, so hurry while it's restocked.
3. Sculptural Hoops
Style Notes: We’ve seen lots of these artistic hoops from both established fashion houses such as Bottega Veneta and newer jewellery brands like Completedworks.
Okay, we've just found the perfect pair of earrings.
4. Jumbo Hoops
Style Notes: No longer the Kat Slater of the earring family, jumbo hoops have a new, seriously chic identity and are perfect for the evening.
A great mid-range price point for earrings that you'll wear all the time.
If you want a different take on your hoops, try these chain mail versions.
5. Embellished Hoops
Style Notes: Embellished hoops come in many forms Alighieri introduced us to the drop-pearl trend, and now we’re seeing it with all kind of stones. Not just for the evening, these can bring some extra personality to jeans and a chunky knit during the daytime.
The ideal party earring (once we can do those again).
6. "Art-Teacher" Hoops
Styles Notes: These “art teacher” hoops (aka colourful resin earrings) live best on the beach or in summer months, but that’s not to say they won’t work in winter too.
Trust Bottega to create a pair we can't stop thinking about.
Next up, the biggest spring/summer 2021 fashion trends to know.
