I Love This Iconic Brow Product—It Just Got a Massive Upgrade and It's Better Than Ever
Despite my years as a beauty editor, I'm in no way an expert at doing my brows. Some days, I'll have my brows looking defined and full in minutes while others, it takes forever to even get them to appear even. Needless to say, I'm always on the hunt for a product that's going to make that part of my makeup routine simple and consistent.
Recently, my prayers were answered. Anastasia Beverly Hills recently launched its Microstroke Brow Pen ($28) and it truly delivers on the "simple and consistent" front. I'm a huge fan of ABH's iconic Brow Wiz formula, but somehow, this new offering managed to be even better. If you're looking for a brow product that looks natural, takes mere minutes to use, and lasts all day and night, look no further. It's a new forever favorite of mine but will especially come in handy this winter when holiday parties and beauty events will be super busy. For everything I love about this formula, keep reading. I'm sharing it all ahead along with my other winter ABH staples.
If you're a huge fan of the original Brow Wiz like I am, you'll appreciate this formula even more. This new pen somehow took everything I love about Brow Wiz and improved it times ten. While this is more of a liquid formula and that might scare some of you, trust me, you only need the lightest touch here. The brush delivers extra dimension and fullness while also looking really natural—not an easy thing to achieve. The pen is designed so that each stroke looks like genuine brow hairs and it blends so seamlessly into your natural brow hairs it's almost magic.
As someone who is not a master at sculpting my own brows by any means, I also love that the formula is so forgiving. If I mess up in one area, it's so easy to just take a Q-tip and clean it up quickly. The fact that it's a liquid formula makes this possible. Sometimes brow pencils can be a little tougher to remove and can smear if you're not careful, but this one fills in sparse areas so well without me needing to do it perfectly. Even if I blot a certain area too much, I can smudge it slightly along the brow and it blends seamlessly which goes to show it's an impressive formula.
While sometimes I do just love a classic brow pencil like Brow Wiz, this new offering from the brand has fast become my favorite. As a pro tip, I learned from a makeup artist to select a color that's a bit lighter than your brow hairs to make it look even more natural. I selected a shade of this that was slightly too dark, but it still looks great. I'll definitely be snagging a lighter one to see if it improves the look even further.
More Anastasia Beverly Hills Products I Love
I love a dewy foundation and this luminous formula from ABH is a favorite—especially for winter. I know some people see the word "luminous" and immediately may not want to try this, but, what I love about this foundation is that it isn't overly glowy. In fact, the luminosity is very subtle and natural. You just look fresh and well-rested—not shiny or glittery. It's also a really lightweight option and feels like I'm wearing nothing on the skin when I decide to reach for it. It never dries out my easily dehydrated skin, either. It stays put all day without that cakey feeling, but keeps the moisture locked into my skin.
If there's one thing I'll say about ABH, it's that the brand knows how to make a good eye shadow palette. This new mini offering in the category is one that I really love. The warm-toned shades are so up my alley. I know I'll be using this for almost every holiday party look this season. The shades are really pigmented and feel buttery soft once they hit your lids. The blendability of these is also out-of-this-world good. The mattes and shimmers just melt into each other on the lids and the champagne shades complement Black and Brown skin tones so well.
I've always found contour sticks a little intimidating, but this one is really easy to blend and, like many other ABH products, gives such a natural, seamless finish. The formula is more of a gel-cream consistency and gives my cheeks such a dewy, sculpted appearance whenever I use it. It also blends beautifully with the brand's Luminous Foundation. Together, they give you an airbrushed finish.
Matte foundations aren't always my cup of tea because they make my skin feel dry after a while, but this one is an elite formula. If dewy formula aren't your thing, this is the perfect formula because it leaves a velvety finish, blurs out the appearance of pores, and doesn't settle into fine lines.
This eye shadow palette is another longtime favorite of mine. The shades are stunning and you can create so many different vibrant looks with it. These rich berry shades were inspired by the resins and paints of renaissance art and the palette as a whole is the perfect holiday party season staple. My favorite thing about this product, though, is that it comes with a dual-ended brush that allows you to create looks with ease. You don't need to buy anything separate to use it.
