The Underrated French New Wave Muse Fashion Girls Love

We’ll go out on a limb here and say most of you are keen on Jane Birkin and Bianca Jagger, but when it comes to the subject of fashion icons, often the lesser-discussed individuals can feel more special to channel in your wardrobe. Enter Anna Karina, the Danish actress whose ’60s and ’70s heyday sparked our inspiration for today’s story. Karina appeared in French films such as La Religieuse and Une Femme Est Une Femme, and she was even married to legendary French New Wave filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard. She’s also an author as well as a singer, a true jane-of-all-trades.

We’re taking inspiration from Karina’s effortless, feminine looks this summer, and we’re starting with the photos and shopping below. If you care to join us, peruse our picks, and be sure to tell us which fashion muses you love in the comments.
