I Tried the Skincare Brand Celebs Like Kaia Gerber and January Jones Love

I love to learn about celeb-favorite skincare products because, when you think about it, celebrities have access to the best of the best. They can afford an impossible number of brands and products. When they genuinely back one of them, it's significant, and I can expect it to offer real, visible results. When multiple celebrities back the same skincare brand, I know it's something special.

That's the case with a rather under-the-radar brand called Allies of Skin. Its highly effective products contain expertly formulated combinations of hero ingredients like peptides, antioxidants, retinol, and exfoliating acids, just to name a few. As it turns out, this brand can count some highly recognizable people as its fans, including Kaia Gerber and January Jones—two celebs who are known for their glowing, healthy-looking skin. When I found this out, I knew I had to give it a shot. So I did, and now, I count myself as a fan too. Ahead, see the specific products Gerber and Jones love the most. Then, see the products I tried, some of which have become mainstays in my skincare routine.

Kaia Gerber's Favorite Products

Kaia Gerber

She counts the brand's cleanser as one of her favorite products. It's gentle and sulfate-free and contains ingredients like silk amino acids, vitamin C, green and white tea extract, and astaxanthin (a powerful antioxidant). It's formulated for all skin types, including dry skin, as it cleanses without stripping moisture away.

Gerber is also a fan of the brand's best-selling product, which is basically a moisturizer-serum hybrid. It contains peptides to plump the skin, seven brightening ingredients to do away with dullness and discoloration, and nine antioxidants to fight free radicals.

Next is this oil, which contains bakuchiol, the ingredient known for being a natural alternative to retinol. It also has 11 plant oils, including organic rosehip, sea buckthorn, black cumin, pumpkin-seed, and pomegranate oils. Together, they firm, smooth, and moisturize the skin.

The final product in Gerber's lineup is this night cream that's formulated with skin-smoothing peptides and retinal—not retinol. The former is a gentle vitamin A ingredient that's touted as being safe for sensitive skin. There's also argan oil, cranberry-seed oil, and Indian ginseng extract to moisturize and reduce signs of aging.

January Jones's Favorite Products

January Jones

One of her favorite products is the brand's vitamin C serum. It's unique in that it's a waterless formula, which the brand claims makes vitamin C all the more potent, delivering brightening effects and antioxidant protection. If Jones's smooth, bright, and glowing complexion is any indication, it works.

Jones has also shared her love for this overnight sleeping mask. With a blend of exfoliating acids (including glycolic, lactic, and salicylic), plus antioxidants and a retinoid complex, it promises to smooth and brighten the skin in just three uses.

My Favorite Products

When it came time to test these formulas, I knew I wanted to try Gerber's and Jones's favorite products and, if I was lucky, a few others that had caught my eye. I tested the formulas over the course of two weeks, which isn't very long in the skincare sense, but even so, I started seeing results almost immediately.

First, let me give you some background on my skin. It's prone to redness, sensitivity, and dehydration, which is why it craves lightweight moisture. If anything is too heavy, I start to see some texture and clogged pores. If anything is too lightweight, I start to see dullness and feel an uncomfortable tight sensation. So for me, finding products that work effectively without causing excess redness or irritation is a fine balance.

Much to my surprise, none of the products I tried triggered my rosacea or caused irritation. Instead, I started to see a visible difference in about a week. The sun damage that lingers on my cheeks was minimized, and my skin looked and felt plump and hydrated. Ahead, see my favorite products that, in my opinion, are totally worth the money.

I have one word for this cleanser: dreamy. The silky, peach-colored formula transforms into a light lather. It effectively removes sunscreen and excess oil without stripping my skin. (I can't stand it when cleansers just add to my dehydration and redness.) It's even gentle enough for me to use both morning and night, which is a big deal, as some other formulas are too harsh for my skin to handle twice a day.

This is my favorite product out of all of them I tried, and I don't say that lightly. I love the peptide- and antioxidant-rich formula. I like knowing it's defending my skin from free radicals throughout the day and acting as a sort of "reset" for my skin at night. (Yes, I use it both morning and night after cleansing.)

As for the texture, it's silky and lightweight. It doesn't pill or leave an uncomfortable waxy feeling behind like some other daily moisturizers. It's so good, and I'm completely hooked on it.

When I first tried this oil, I was surprised to see how glowy it made my skin look. In fact, the first night I applied it, my sister complimented my skin and asked why it looked so good. I think it's due, in part, to the slight orange tint of the oil, which instantly made my complexion look healthy and sunkissed. I'm sure the bakuchiol and blend of 11 plant oils didn't hurt either.

Okay, here's a product that I stumbled across on my own. In other words, it didn't come my way via celebrity recommendation. It's a moisturizer that contains ultra-soothing and skin barrier–supporting ingredients like oat protein, ceramides, panthenol, squalane, and black cumin oil.

I used it after an exfoliating mask, and my redness all but disappeared overnight. I'm not kidding. This will be a product I keep in my collection to use whenever my skin is feeling compromised and stressed or when I go a little overboard with exfoliation.

This is the ultimate "glass skin" serum. With peach extract, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid, it deeply hydrates and refines texture. My sensitive skin basically drinks it up.

I'm also a huge fan of the brand's moisturizer, which is one I've used faithfully for years. Its antioxidant-rich formula leaves my skin soft, smooth, and supple.

If you were unaware that Barney's had a namesake skincare line and are questioning whether it could actually be good, trust me—it is. This toner, though expensive, is one of the best ones I've ever used. It's made in Korea and soaks the skin with moisture, vitamin C, and vitamin E. I can't get enough of it.

This budget-friendly exfoliating mask uses three forms of exfoliation—AHAs, BHAs, and enzymes—to dramatically smooth and brighten the skin in a matter of minutes. Even though it's super effective, it doesn't make my skin freak out in redness and irritation.

Here it is, folks—my all-time favorite sunscreen. This Korean innovation provides my skin with SPF 50 and lots of moisture. The best part, though, is the finish. There's absolutely no white cast to speak of, and it absorbs into my skin like a dream.

This cleanser reminds me of a grown-up version of the Clean & Clear Morning Burst Cleanser ($6) since it has a lovely citrus scent that I find so refreshing in the morning. Its antioxidant-rich formula and citrus-derived vitamin C promise to brighten the skin while delivering anti-aging results.
