Judging by Angela Scanlon’s humorous blog posts--she calls them “rants” and offers a unique perspective on everything from of-the-moment fashion trends to home decor--and innate sense of style, we can say with certainty the Dublin native is one of our new favorite “It” girls. A fashion writer, stylist, and TV presenter by trade, Scanlon possesses a fun and fearless approach to dressing, which has earned her a coveted spot on Vogue UK’s 2013 Hot List and a turn in this month’s Style Stalker spotlight. We admire her ability to seamlessly mix affordable, high street finds with luxe designer pieces, and love the fact that she’s a bit of a tomboy with an affinity for overalls too. Whether she’s lending nonchalance to a statement suit with a half-tucked tee or styling a sleek skirt with biker boots, Scanlon’s outfits are unabashedly cool and consistently on-point. As this month’s stalkee, we asked Scanlon to reveal her favorite places to shop, style icons, and more, so keep reading for tips on how to get her look now!

Q&A with Angela
Please describe your personal style in two sentences or less.
It's a bit schizophrenic. Young tomboy meets old, kitsch granny, with a splash of power dressing thrown into the mix. Although, I do hobo-chic exceptionally well on a Sunday morning.
How does the city you live in inspire your day-to-day style?
I walk a lot, whether I’m in London or Dublin, so I always carry flats or boots that I can do some mileage in. I’ve also got a pretty sick coat collection and have sussed the art of layering--a consequence of our fabulous weather!
List some of your favorite current trends and why you appreciate them/how you are wearing them.
I'm into all of the graphic prints for spring, like vertical stripes and geometric prints in monochrome or bold colors. And I MUST own the hot pink 3.1 Phillip Lim Watercolor Suede Overalls ($1400).
Who are some of your style icons and why?
I like Charlotte Gainsbourg because she's brave. She has a tomboy nonchalance and looks great in trousers. I like Lou Doillon and Alison Mosshart for similar reasons, but perhaps just a little less polished. If I could make a break for anyone’s wardrobe it would be the Olsen twins, assuming they still share one. A hint of hobo from Mary-Kate balanced with the polished, classic pieces from Ashley.
Name one go-to piece in your closet and why.
Black boots are my go-to item. I’ve got dozens of pairs, and somehow they always work!
What are some of your favorite places to shop?
I like independent boutiques where there are niche labels that can't be found everywhere--Bow in Dublin and Browns in London are favorites. I fill the gaps in high street stores like COS, Topshop, and Zara, and always check out Folkster for unique stuff and Jeffrey Campbell shoes! I also love Selfridges for the food hall and incredible designer selection. Dover Street Market and Colette in Paris are treat stores that I relish visiting, and then I'll also do a bit of a rummage in vintage and charity stores or around markets for special items.
