The time has come to pack up all our summer minidresses and swimwear and pull out our jackets and boots for fall. I know—I’m sad about it too, but there’s always exciting energy in the air that comes when the seasons change. Fall feels like the start of something new. For those of us in New York City, it’s the time of year when everyone who has retreated to their summer homes returns to the city and long vacations away come to an end, and the city is back in full swing.

The kids go back to school, college students move into dorms, and it’s chilly enough to wrap yourself in a chic sweater and sit in the West Village while wine tasting with friends. And of course, for those of us who work in fashion, it’s the beginning of fashion month, starting with New York Fashion Week. There’s just something about New York in the fall, from the leaves changing in Central Park to my favorite restaurants adding hot toddies to their cocktail menus. Deep down, I’m a summer girl, but fall is a close second. If I’m being sincere, I’m ready to trade my sweet little summer dresses for cashmere sweaters and suede boots. As you may have guessed, I’m already planning my cozy looks left and right, and five outfit formulas stood out to me as no-brainer ensembles I’ll be wearing all season.

Keep scrolling to see the five looks I can’t wait to wear all fall.

Wide-Leg Jeans + Cropped Blazer + Statement Earrings

This fall is all about corporate dressing, and what better way to take a cool and causal approach to the trend than by pairing a cropped blazer with wide-leg jeans? A great pair of earrings is the cherry on top. You can style the blazer and jeans with a vest top like the image above, but I prefer a bodysuit. This is the perfect look for dinner after work.

Vest Top + Miniskirt + Knee-High Boots

There’s something so darling about the pairing of a miniskirt and vest top. What really takes this look to the next level is the accessories and the styling. I love the layering of the vest top over the button-down. Adding some red boots is so on-trend. I’m obsessed. This look is delicious to me—I can’t wait to re-create this for a weekend outfit.

Sweaterdress + Tall Boots + Chic Sunnies

This look is the gift that keeps on giving. You can really never go wrong with a classic sweaterdress and knee-high boots for fall. This look seamlessly goes from day to night, so it’s perfect for brunch with friends or a first date. You’ll be seeing me wearing outfits like this all over New York City this fall.

Sneakers + Denim + Leather Belt + Basic Tee

I reach for this outfit on a weekly basis in the fall. It’s the perfect simple outfit combo that takes about five minutes to put on yet still looks super chic. The best part about this outfit is that you probably already have some, if not all, of these items already in your wardrobe. Add the sweater over your shoulders to really take things up a notch.

Cargo Pants + Half-Zip Sweater + Sneakers

If your vibe is casual, cool, cozy and chic then this look is for you. The half-zip sweater is one of the most versatile knits you can keep in your collection, and pairing it with cargo pants just makes the look feel fresh. I love this look as a travel outfit also.
