My co-workers have already sounded the alarm about Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale, and if you haven't yet given the selection a browse, it's time to get on it. The sale is chock-full of discounts, from great denim to practical basics, so it's the perfect moment to refresh your closet before the buzz of fall descends upon us. And while I love a solid pair of jeans, I've been zooming in on the sale's quality selection of accessories, namely the bags, shoes, and jewelry trends currently causing a stir among the fashion crowd.

From bold, colorful jewelry to lace-up heels and more, there are several on-sale It pieces at Nordstrom. Because sharing is caring, I'm spelling them out for you. Below, I've assembled the top trends I'm watching that are included in the sale and selections to shop for each so you can get your accessory game in order. As with most good things, I don't see these staying in stock for long, so it's best to act fast.

Ultra-Sporty Kicks

The popularity of the sporty aesthetic is at an all-time high within fashion circles, and with it is the arrival of ultra-athletic sneakers. Think Asics, On, and Merrell sneakers that look like they could withstand an intense day in the mountains or on the track.

'70s-Inspired Sunglasses

With tiny sunglasses dominating for so long, it's nice to see the pendulum finally swing over to the opposite side of things with big sunglasses. To perfect the trend, they should cover 60% of your face, and bonus points if there's a cool tinted lens or whimsical shape. I was shocked by the number of designer pairs that were heavily discounted.

This year, colorful stones rose from the ashes, with gems of every color adorning necklaces, earrings, and rings. It's a simple way to have more fun with your jewelry and liven up an outfit.

Lace-Up Heels

As a fashion editor, I thoroughly endorse lace-up heels. They're really the only type of fancy shoes I wear. And while amazing designer options exist, I'm snatching up these discounted pairs that look equally amazing.

Oversize Bags

The oversize bag has been a trend quietly brewing for the past year, with designers such as Khaite and The Row propelling it forward. Some bag trends can be laughably impractical (aka the micro bag), but this one is easily adaptable for every day.

Tennis Necklaces

The most painless way to look infinitely more glamorous? Throw on a tennis necklace. It instantly reads luxe, and you don't have to wear a ball gown to pull it off. Fashion people have been pairing their tennis necklaces with T-shirts, jeans, and even sweatpants for an elevated approach to casualwear.

Fashion Market Editor

Indya Brown is a fashion editor, stylist, and writer living in Los Angeles. While going to school at Columbia University in New York City, she got her feet wet in the fashion industry interning at Elle magazine, Harper's Bazaar, and New York magazine's The Cut. After graduating in 2016, she joined The Cut as a fashion assistant, eventually working her way up to fashion editor. There, she worked on a multitude of projects, including styling inbook feature stories for New York magazine's print issue, writing and pitching market stories for The Cut, and serving as fashion lead for The Cut's branded content. While New York has been her home for over 10 years, she moved to Los Angeles in the midst of the pandemic in 2020 for a new chapter. Now she is a fashion market editor for Who What Wear, focusing on emerging designers, rising trends on and off the internet, interior design, and BIPOC creatives and brands. Aside from her duties as a fashion market editor, Brown is also a freelance stylist and writer, working on national print and video commercial campaigns for Sephora, The Independent, and Cadillac. Her bylines also include Harper's Bazaar, Vox, and The New York Times. But once the computer goes down and the emails turn off, she's likely eating her way through Koreatown, hunting down vintage furniture, scoping out new outrageous nail designs to try, or taking a hot cycling class.
