Their very modern love story began on a dating app. "Freddy and I met on Hinge in August of 2018," celebrity makeup artist Nina Park shares about the moment she was introduced to her husband Frederik Vig, a tech startup founder. "I was living in New York, and balancing my job with meeting new people was quite challenging. Freddy was living in NYC and managing his tech startup he founded in Oslo remotely." Park has a jet-setting schedule as the in-demand makeup artist to celebrities such as Zoë Kravitz, Greta Lee, and Kaia Gerber that takes her everywhere from the Met Gala to press tours across the world. Vig has an equally demanding agenda as a startup founder, so their plans didn't immediately align. "Our first date took some time to schedule due to our busy lives, but we finally met for a spontaneous evening at Noorman's Kil in Williamsburg, bonding over grilled cheese and whiskey," Park says.

Despite their instant connection, they started out slowly in the beginning. "For the first three months, we played the typical dating games—waiting to text back, pretending to be unavailable," explains Park. "One day, while I was in London for a press tour, Freddy texted me, asking if we could talk. He said, 'I like you. I think you like me too. Can we stop playing games and just be real?' From that moment on, we were inseparable. In 2020, we made a big move across the country to Los Angeles, where we now call home."

In December 2023, the couple had a romantic trip planned to Ojai before Park's mother came to town from Korea for Christmas, and Park's friends convinced her that Vig was going to propose. "We spent two nights at the Ojai Valley Inn, and the whole time, I was anticipating a proposal. Each day, there were many moments where I thought, 'Oh, this is it,' but Freddy had yet to ask the question," Park recalls. "On our last night, in our pajamas and over wine in our room, I finally said, 'I feel silly, but I thought you were going to propose on this trip.' We laughed about it, and then, to my surprise, he got down on one knee and finally asked the question." The couple then decided upon an intimate wedding near Sequoia National Park to celebrate their love in nature among their closest friends.

"As I got ready with my best friends, we enjoyed music and champagne, making the moment even more special. At one point, [my friend] Stevie [Chong] began singing 'Can't Help Falling in Love,' and we all joined in, turning the preparation into a joyful sing-along."

"One of my closest friends, Miriam Park, who is a very talented hairstylist in NYC, styled my hair in loose, airy waves. My first assistant Yukari Bush did my makeup, creating a glowy, natural look. I wanted to feel and look effortless that day, and I truly never felt more beautiful."

"It was a sacred time for me, full of reflection and excitement for this new chapter in my life. I also spent some of this intimate time adding to my vows, making the moment even more meaningful."

WWW Weddings tip: "Since our wedding was intentionally small, I don't have any tips to offer on traditional wedding planning. However, I'm incredibly happy with how we chose to celebrate. Although it was a very private event, every moment felt deeply personal. We both remember every detail from that day. What I cherish most is the ability we had to focus solely on each other and truly savor every moment of that day. We wanted a special ceremony where we could fully absorb the experience and enjoy being together in a meaningful way."

"Freddy and I initially planned to get married at a courthouse and then celebrate with our families in Norway, where he is from, later this year, followed by a reception with friends for our one-year wedding anniversary. However, we decided that, instead of a courthouse wedding, we would plan a very personal and private ceremony in a beautiful natural setting surrounded by trees."

"We rented a charming house in Three Rivers near Sequoia National Park. The house felt like a retreat—so peaceful around a lush forest. My friends flew into Los Angeles from Chicago and New York, and we all drove together to the house, making the experience special and memorable for everyone.

"When we came across Slick Rock park in Three Rivers, we knew instantly that it was the place. With its views of mountains, flowing water, and beautiful hills, it offered a tranquil and picturesque setting that perfectly matched our vision for the day."

"Our close friend, Stevie Chong, officiated our wedding, and the ceremony exceeded anything I could have imagined."

"We didn't have a specific plan for where we wanted to get married. The fun of having such a small wedding was living in the moment and discovering a perfect, serene spot in nature."

"It felt like a movie, being surrounded by our closest friends in such a beautiful setting."

"I found my dress at Khaite; I knew I wanted something tea-length since we would be walking through grass. I loved the silhouette and how the dress moved. My shoes were from Toteme—a perfect cream satin mule with a small heel—which I later dyed navy blue to rewear again. I also wore a vintage white fur coat my friend had lent me for "something borrowed." I accessorized with a vintage diamond necklace and a diamond bracelet that Freddy had gifted me for my birthday years ago. Both my engagement ring and wedding band are from Jessica McCormack. I'm fortunate that a close friend—Andrew Mukamal, who is an incredible stylist—helped Freddy pick out the ring of my dreams."

"Freddy wore a black Tom Ford suit with a white Ledbury shirt with shoes from Paul Evans."

"We were fully immersed in taking our vows and exchanging our rings, feeling as if we were alone at that moment. The emotions were overwhelming, and I couldn't stop crying."

WWW Weddings tip: "I hear from my married friends all the time on how their wedding went by so fast, or they have FOMO hearing about the wedding through the guests. Often, the bride and groom are stressed with the planning. I loved every minute of the special day and wouldn't have it any other way. It was perfectly us."

"I'll never forget Stevie's toast back at the house. He pointed out that, even though we had chosen a nontraditional path by eloping with our closest friends, it didn't mean we should miss out on a first dance."

"To our surprise, as the background music started, Ted Nunes emerged with his guitar and began singing 'Can't Help Falling in Love' by Elvis Presley. Freddy and I were both in complete shock as we had our first dance in the living room. Having changed into Uggs while Freddy [was] in socks, it was a heartfelt moment that I will cherish forever and be deeply touched by."

"Although we knew our dogs, Bo and Bruna, couldn't join us for the wedding, we arranged a special photo shoot with them before we left for Sequoia. It was memorable and heartwarming to include them in our memories of our big day. Having the photo shoot before the actual ceremony took the pressure off capturing the perfect moment on the big day. It allowed us to fully enjoy every minute of it."
