I Asked Chic Jet-Setters What Fashion and Beauty Essentials They Pack in Their Carry-Ons—28 I Immediately Added to My Cart
If there's something you can swear on about fashion people, it's that no matter the trip or occasion, their travel essentials will be anything but boring. Whether it's weekender bags or aesthetically pleasing under-eye bags, the style set often has a few fashion and beauty essentials they chuck into their carry-ons that look and feel good—along with being TSA-approved, of course.
From luxury-driven designs to minimalist, yet practical packing necessities, I polled a few chic jet-setters on what they're buying, packing, and carrying in their luggage this spring, summer, and beyond. Below, discover the three travel categories they swear by, along with a few firsthand written reviews of the internet's buzziest travel labels and products, including Beis, Rimowa, Reis Beauty, and more.
Organizational Cases
By far, these Ries beauty refillable containers might be one of the most exciting on this list. Its multifunction travel tubes come with a built-in pump system and labeled packaging (shampoo, conditioner, body, face, and an additional package), meaning you can take your full-size arsenal with you on the go without having to lug around extra products you don't need. I've tested this one out myself and, frankly, it might be one of the best things I've gotten in a while.
Although Shay Mitchell's buzzy travel brand, Beis, might be known for its stellar luggage or Instagram-viral weekender tote, the brand shines mostly in its organizational bags and travel cases, most notably, the brand's best-selling cosmetic case. A capacious compartment, pop-up mirror, and separate makeup brush mean it's your one-stop-shop for travel beauty. I've been lugging it around for a few domestic and international trips already, and as you would expect, it lives up to the hype.
These viral packing cubes are beloved by Baggu's cult following online, making travel and organizing a breeze if you're a chronic overpacker like me. Different cubes are designed for different-sized items and designated so by label (intimates, jeans, etc.). Although I was a skeptic at first, I couldn't stop using a pair I got for myself a few months back.
Another Beis travel case that the internet can't live without. Introducing the Dopp kit—a cavernous pouch made for anything you'd please. While I pack my skincare and toiletries in mine, the experts I talked to said there are plenty of uses for the one-size-fits-all approach to the travel pouch.
With separate compartments for earrings, rings, and necklaces, this miniature jewelry box is the perfect way to stay accessorized while on the go. Plus, it's only $20— a steal when considering the price you'd have to pay to get your pieces fixed if they got broken in transport.
If your in-flight personal item is filled with mangled cables and half-charged power bricks, look no further than this minimalistic labeled tech case to stuff all of your charging cables and electronics for easy access en route to your final destination.
The Perfect Personal Item
The classic Louis Vuitton Keepall might be a splurge, but this overheard bin–friendly bag is perfect for any long-haul flight.
If you're looking for a luggage-like item without having to check yet another bag, this classic Rimowa purse is perfect for any airport fit.
I'm a proud Longchamp fan, and thanks to the brand's weekender-style duffle bag that fits squarely under the seat in front of me, I've been able to take this oversize bag as a personal item with me on every flight I've taken. Although it looks small, it's mighty, meaning there's more space to lug your items in without having to check an additional pay or pay for overweight bag fees.
Say hello to glamour. This rounded Ritz Paris duffel is perfect for a flight across the pond landing in Charles de Gaulle or Orly.
Don't discount L.L. Bean's oversize boat and tote bag—especially when adding the larger sizes to your cart. Just like the above Longchamp, these oversize bags are perfect to use as an extra-large purse in conjunction with your roller carry-on luggage. Plus, who doesn't love embroidering a funny phrase on it?
Beis's viral Weekender bag just got an in-flight upgrade with the brand's mini version. Instead of lugging the heavy bag over your shoulder, opt for the mini version if you're looking for an affordable alternative with 10 times less hassle and weight. Your shoulders will thank you!
Little In-Flight Luxuries
Slip's eye masks are some of the most highly reviewed on the market, and now that the Australian-based brand has come out with a version perfect for lash extensions, I'm obsessed.
No more tossing your single-use under-eye patches in the airplane bathroom. These Dieux Skin reusable silicon patches are perfect to take with you on your next getaway, whether they're to wear while getting ready in a hotel room or during a long-haul red-eye flight.
I had to actually test this product myself before telling you what I'm about to tell you: It works. This portable teeth whitening gel and lip treatment leaves you feeling perfect if you're looking to brighten your smile on a plane on the way to your next getaway. Instead of bringing dozens of flimsy whitening strips that can get lost at the bottom of your luggage, this convenient whitening stick is perfect for on-the-go touch-ups or any excess coffee stains you'll have accumulated during your time abroad.
Chanel's iconic hand cream needs no explanation. I'm giving you the validation you need to have a self-care spa day in your seat, 30,000 feet in the air.
Hand sanitizer is one of the first things you should pack with you in a post-pandemic world, and thanks to Aesop's divine-smelling, luxurious spray hand sanitizer, you don't need to worry about an alcohol-esque pungent smell drafting through the airplane when you use it.
Aren't you glad you kept scrolling thanks to this lovely Rhode lip tint dupe?
