Rejoice! We've Found the Best Swimwear for Every Body Shape
Is there anything worse than trying to find a new swimsuit? Especially on those days when you're not feeling too body confident? Changing rooms are evil at the best of times, let alone when you're half-naked and it's the middle of hibernation season.
Okay, so there's no magic formula to flip that process a total 180 degrees, but there are tricks that can make the most of your favourite features, thus boosting your confidence on the beach or when you're lounging by the pool with an Aperol spritz in hand.
We spoke to Ursula Lake, swimsuit designer and founder of Violet Lake, about how to find the right swimming costume for you. From those who want to get a perkier bum to others who want to minimise their fuller chests, we've got the best shopping hacks and tips, plus where to buy the most flattering one-pieces and bikinis to make you swoon.
Keep scrolling for tips on how to find the best swimsuit for your body.
You Want…a Flatter Chest
Want to minimise your chest? Lake recommends going for something that is classic and draws attention to other parts of your body. Try a belt or ruching on a one-piece, or a two-piece with a darker top and a lighter bottom.

You Want…a Fuller Chest
Classic triangle shapes that also have padding work here. "Anything with a bit of gathering will create the illusion of a fuller bust. It really depends on the rest of your physique, but you should play around with colour on your bikini," recommends Lake. A paler colour on your top and a darker version on the bottom half will give the impression that you have a bigger chest.

You Want…Longer Legs
According to Lake, "it's probably best to avoid boy-shape legs. And try to not go for the '80s look of a super-high leg, as it feels quite dated. Instead, try a tie side; they're very lengthening."

You Want…to Look Taller
To look taller, a swimsuit in one solid colour is the best, Lake says. "Instead of the eye jumping around if you're wearing a bikini or pattern, you're bringing the eye up the body," she advises.
You Want…a More Defined Waist
"A one-piece, such as our Caruso, has a removable belt—it really delineates your waist. Loads of our customers wear it out at night, as well. It's very chic and also great for bigger boobs, as it covers the cleavage."

You Want…a Perkier Bum
"For a perkier bum, add more colour and try a higher waist. Essentially, if you want it to look bigger, simply add more material."

You Want…to Show Off Your Shoulders.
"A friend of mine has a great swimmer's body. She looks amazing in a bandeau, as it really shows off her clavicles."
