The Two Retailers Fashion Editors Rely On For Their Spring Basics
If you're wondering where our editors consistently return to for basics season after season, I can tell you there are two retailers I hear our team talk about again and again: J.Crew and Gap.
With J.Crew, I’d go as far as to say that every single one of our editors owns at least something from the brand. TThat proves it transcends any one specific style or aesthetic, since it’s filled with wardrobe staples. It's one of my go-tos for cashmere, such as the Perfect Cashmere Cardigan, Featherweight Ribbed Cashmere Short-Sleeve Sweater-Polo, and Cashmere High V-Neck Sweater. For spring basics, the Cotton Voile Scallop-Trim Babydoll Dress, Pleated Skirt in Cotton Poplin, and Pull-On Midi Skirt in Cotton Poplin caught my eye.
At Gap, one of my most purchased items is the underwear from the Breathe line. “I swear, once you try them, it’ll be hard to wear anything else—they’re that comfortable. Aside from that, there the Low Rise '90s Loose Jeans, which became a best-seller after Hailey Bieber wore them. If you like less baggy fit, there's also the Mid Rise Straight Jeans. Other current highlights include the $70 Vegan Leather Wedge Thong Sandals and the cotton poplin shirts.
