Suddenly, This "Ugly" Shorts Trend Is on Every LES Sandy Girl's Summer Wish List
Trust me, it's perfect.
When I first laid eyes on the Sandy Liang Pepita Shorts, I knew I needed a pair. To me, they're the perfect shorts. Loose yet structured. Simple but still excessively cute. My favorite detail is the bunny eyelet embroidery that outlines the scalloped edges so it looks like a tiny creature is frolicking along your knees when you sit. I fell in love with them so hard that after I ordered a pair in black, I immediately went back and added a white pair to my cart.
I'm not even the typical target audience for shorts. I much prefer the looseness of a skirt. But these shorts are something special.
For one, they still have a looseness to them. They're breezy. Unlike most shorts, they don't cling to your legs. There's a bit more shape that jets out at the bottom, which honestly reminds me of the freeness of the skirts I love so much. I often dread wearing shorts, but not these. They feel as easy to me as a dress but unlock so much more summer styling potential.
And while I'm loyal to my Pepita Shorts, I've noticed that, in general, similar-style Bermuda shorts with feminine details like lace or scalloping (bunny embroidery is far less common) are taking over New York. They're the perfect thing to wear with a great T-shirt and ballet pumps. I've never felt more certain about a summer essential. Everyone truly needs a pair (or if you're like me, multiple).
