17 Fall Pieces That Should Definitely Be on Your Radar

Fall is finally upon us, and with a new season comes the opportunity for a wardrobe refresh. I need clothes for holiday parties, office days (they're officially here!), date nights with my husband, and everything in between. And as always, I'm banking on my co-workers to give me all the outfit inspiration I need. Luckily for me, they're just a Slack message away. Who What Wear associate editor Sierra Mayhew showed me the three outfits she's putting together with key pieces she found at the editor-favorite fashion microsite, The Style Room (powered by Zappos). The style destination is bursting at the seams right now (to be honest, it always is) with beloved brands and all the latest trends from "preppy chic" to "'70s boho." Plus, it's serving up plenty of inspiration for how to wear each piece. Keep scrolling to see what Sierra snapped up from the retailer.
"When it's fall, you should always expect to find me with a cardigan draped over my shoulders. The moment I saw this slip dress, I knew how I would style it. While slip dresses are a year-round staple, this one felt very fall to me because of its dark-green colorway. Although some might see it as a more formal look, this outfit is a weekend go-to for me. One of my current favorite fall trends is the subtle Western motif, so I made the dress feel more casual with a pair of cowboy boots. This pair is an elevated take on the classic Western essential. Next time I get an invitation to brunch, I most certainly will be wearing this." — Sierra Mayhew, associate editor
"I grew up wearing a school uniform every day, and despite the endless complaints from my classmates, l low-key loved it. It was polished and so easy to put on every day. With just a tweak to my accessories, I could make my look feel personalized. This outfit would be approved by even the toughest dean at my school—it's a very accurate depiction of preppy style. But the real star of the show here is the loafer. When I ordered these shoes, I couldn't tell if they would be comfortable or not, but wow. They feel like walking on a cloud. These are definitely going to be my new go-to's for fall." — Mayhew
"Even though we haven't reached holiday season yet, invitations are already flying, and so I've begun planning party looks. This metallic dress from Halston is the ultimate piece to throw on the minute you're added to the guest list. It's the details for me: The halter top nods to Y2K, the plissé pleats add texture, and the full-body skirt will make you the star of the dance floor. When you're balancing a calendar that's filled with nights out, a good roster of accessories is an absolute must. I think I need the feather shoes in every color. Again, whenever I'm ordering shoes, I'm always nervous that they'll be uncomfortable, but I could certainly dance all night in these." — Mayhew
