This Denim Trend Is So Extra in the Best Way Possible
Ever since Cotton Citizen debuted its denim collection, I knew a pair of colored jeans needed to be my next denim purchase. (The collection primarily consists of jeans and matching denim jackets in a plethora of unexpected colors, if you’re unfamiliar.) Other brands, like J Brand and Paige, furthered my inkling that candy-colored denim was on the rise when I previewed spring collections last year. Alas, here we are nearing the new season, and colored jeans couldn’t be having more of a spike. Net-a-Porter even picked up a new streetwear brand this season called Pushbutton, which has a number of pastel and statement colored denim pieces.
While I’m showcasing several brands that offer a selection of colors from hot pink to everything in between, I’m personally eyeing (and favoring) the high-rise option from Cotton Citizen right now. I own the rust red color, and while the bold hue is extra and bold in the best way possible, I’d like to take a moment to highlight the incredible fit. First, the rise is 10.25 inches, which means it accentuates the smallest part of my waist. Second, the silhouette is basically a skinny-jean fit with a subtle flare at the ankle. The key here is that the jeans stay tight and snug from your leg through your calf and then flare at the ankle. This detail is especially flattering because of the silt that hits right around the ankle, too. Together the slight flare, tight fit, and slit lend an exceptionally elongating look. Need more convincing? They also come in 11 different colors. Shop the Cotton Citizen jeans I’m into plus more of my favorite colored jeans below.
