Excuse Me While I Thrive on 7 of the Chicest Basics From the Nordstrom Fall Sale

When a news of a sale hits my radar, one of the first things I always like to focus on is the selection of basics. There is no better time than a good sale to stock up on those chic pieces that are guaranteed to get a lot of wear (and compliments, of course.) So, when I heard Nordstrom was having a fall sale (which ends November 6), you better believe I dove straight in to finding those key pieces, and this sale did not disappoint.
There are seven basics in particular that I had in mind when scrolling through the almost 25,000 pieces from the sale. Sweaters and outerwear were top of mind with the colder months now upon us, especially oversize turtlenecks and wool coats. Beyond these, I found a range of chic denim, dresses, and flats shoes that I am excited to wear no matter the season. Scroll on to shop the chicest basics from the Nordstrom fall sale alongside some stellar outfit ideas for styling inspiration.
1. Oversize Turtleneck Sweaters
Oversize turtleneck sweaters are incredibly versatile. Dress one up with trousers or a skirt and chic heels or go more casual with jeans and leggings and sneakers or ballet flats.
2. Blazers
Blazers are a universal favorite and for good reason: The classic piece instantly elevates any look no matter the occasion or what you style it with.
3. Button-Down Shirts
One great basic to stock up on that's always chic is a button-down shirt. The fit and color options are endless so they appeal to a variety of personal styles.
4. Flat Black Shoes
Chic flat black shoes are a bonafide closet staple. Whether it's a pair of loafers, ballet flats, cool boots or a strappy option—flat black shoe styles have endless outfit possibilities.
5. Straight-Leg Jeans
Classic straight-leg jeans are always a good idea. The denim style pairs perfectly with everything from sweaters to coats to going-out tops to blazers.
6. Wool Coats
One surefire way to make your outfit look more expensive is with the help of a chic wool coat. I highly recommend sticking to neutrals like camel hues or darker options in black and navy.
7. Black Dresses
The power of a black dress is undeniable. This season, opt for a simple style with an interesting detail like a mock neck or a side twist makes for a standout pick to wear to weddings, date nights, and beyond.
