Do You Need Arch Support? A Doctor Breaks it Down

Let’s be honest, looking good doesn’t always mean being comfortable—especially when it comes to footwear. Even the cutest heels or flats might not last the whole day if they don't have proper arch support.
"Some people's feet are flatter than others," says Eric W. Tan, MD, assistant professor of clinical orthopedic surgery at the USC Keck School of Medicine. "If someone has a flatter arch, we typically like to support it to give a little more stability." However, Tan explains that not everyone needs an arch support, but it's more about how it feels to the individual.
To get the most out of your shoes when you know you’ll be on your feet all day, we rounded up some of our favorites that are not only comfortable but good-looking too. You won’t want to take these off.
