To celebrate the publication of her expert new lifestyle book, Living in Style: Inspiration and Advice for Everyday Glamour ($21), we caught up with Zoe to chat about everything from Stevie Nicks to dating advice for Skyler. Read on after the jump.
If you were a song, what song would you be?
"Landslide," by Stevie Nicks. My dad and I danced to it at my wedding.
If given the opportunity how would you style Kate Middleton?
I actually think she’s doing an incredible job. I love that she repeats outfits. I love the designers she wears. I think she has the perfect mix of not being pretentious and being as approachable as possible. I would love for her to have kind of like a great tuxedo moment though. I think that would be so chic.
What is your favorite movie to quote?
“It’s All Happening” from Almost Famous.
Do you smile at strangers?
I do. It’s a problem I have, but yes. [laughs]
If you could star in the remake of any movie which one would you choose?
I’d have to say Pretty Woman. I’d really love to be Julia Roberts in that movie. I mean, I think that’s every girl’s dream, isn’t it?
What are the last five things that you Googled?
Wow, ok. An Aman resort. A certain kind of carseat for my newborn. A vacation spot for spring break. How to store your Birkin bag. And directions for my meeting this morning.
Do you hold grudges?
Yes. I just think once you see someone’s true colors it’s hard to get over it.
Finish this sentence, “If I were president , my first order of business would be _________.”
To save every child around the world. Feed the children. Save them. I can’t bear it.
What spring item should everyone invest in?
An easy, lightweight trench, because it’ll carry you through all year.
Pictured: Rachel Zoe Houston Silk Trench, Sold Out.
What advice will you give Skyler when he starts dating?
She’s not good enough for you! [laughs] No girl will ever be good enough. In all seriousness, I would say—and we’ve taught him this since he was a year old—treat women with respect, and you know, always open the door and be a gentleman.
