I love an investment piece just as much as the next girl, but when it comes to replenishing my everyday wardrobe basics for a new season, I try to be more thoughtful about my spending. I'm currently searching for affordable pieces that don't look, well, affordable. It sounds challenging, but it's really not if you know where to look.

Take Walmart, for example. The retailer offers stylish denim, dresses, accessories, and casual wear from a range of affordable brands. Most importantly, the pieces also look great IRL, as I discovered after my latest Walmart haul. I found further proof, too, when Lindsay Marcella, the queen of styling simple basics, put together this head-to-toe look from Walmart. It's so effortlessly cool that I would have never known the entire look was only $119. Shop it all—plus similar styles—below.

As mentioned above, Marcella is a pro at styling simple basics so that they look really elevated. Just take one scroll through her Instagram feed and you'll see exactly what I mean. This denim outfit she put together is a great example of how she's styling her basics for warmer weather. "My spring basics usually include tons of denim, a light jacket, and knits because you never know when it will get chilly out," Marcella says. She's a straight-leg-jeans girl and prefers pairs that have that distressed effect, but she also can't resist skinny jeans or wide-leg cropped pairs from time to time. Same, girl, same.

I love the ribbed texture of this white knit she's chosen, which she also plans to wear with off-white jeans for a monochromatic look. But if I'm being truly honest, that faux-leather jacket is what's really catching my eye. I was shocked to find out it's only $40, which is especially great news because leather separates are a big thing this season."One of the easiest ways to style an outfit is to throw a faux-leather jacket like this one on top. It instantly elevates any look," says Marcella.
