As a beauty editor, many brands hold a place in my heart. There's one brand that I have a particular soft spot for, however, and that's Laneige. It was one of the first brands I tried when I was starting out as a beauty intern, and to this day, it's a brand I keep on regular rotation.
Of course, everyone knows Laneige for its ultra-viral Lip Sleeping Mask. Admittedly, it's one of my favorite products from the brand, too—I've gone through at least four jars of it (and there's a lot in each jar!). I recently decided to put Laneige to the test. How these products were tested:
To really get a feel for Laneige products, I incorporated them into my routine for a week. Of course, most of these products I've also been using on and off for years, so I'm pretty intimately familiar with them. Keep reading for my review of the best Laneige products out there, from someone who has a slight obsession with the brand and is ultra-picky about skincare. One thing to keep in mind before you read on: Most Laneige products contain fragrance, so if you're historically bothered by fragrance in skincare, it might be best to steer clear.
#10: Laneige Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Gel Moisturizer
What it is: A pillowy cream moisturizer infused with blue hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and squalane to hydrate.
Pros: This moisturizer sinks in instantly, leaving no residue on the skin. It also plumps skin and delivers a burst of refreshing hydration.
Cons: As someone with dry skin, I sometimes feel like I need an extra boost of moisture to keep my skin hydrated. The packaging is made of plastic and a bit bulky.
#9: Laneige Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Eye Cream
What it is: A gel-like eye cream that helps reduce puffiness, add hydration, and brighten under-eyes thanks to ingredients like blue hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and caffeine.
Pros: This eye cream feels refreshing and keeps under-eyes incredibly soft and hydrated while keeping puffiness at bay.
Cons: I don't notice a visible change in my dark circles when I use it. The packaging is made of plastic and a bit bulky.
#8: Laneige Water Sleeping Mask
What it is: An overnight mask infused with squalane and a probiotic-derived complex to support the skin's barrier and lock in moisture as the last step in your skincare routine.
Pros: Hydrating products are my jam. I love locking in my skincare with an occlusive barrier before going to sleep to wake up with supremely hydrated skin. This one is lightweight but still creates a moisturizing barrier for the skin.
Cons: If you have extremely dry skin, you might want to opt for something heavier.
#7: Laneige Eye Sleeping Mask
What it is: A leave-on eye mask that uses something called Eye Moisture Wrap Technology to soothe and hydrate your under-eyes while you sleep.
Pros: This mask ensures you wake up with totally de-puffed and hydrated under-eyes. The ceramic applicator is the cherry on top, as it allows you to get the benefits of a circulation-boosting massage while you put it on. It also feels cooling, like a drink of water for your under-eyes.
Cons: Extremely dry eyes might need more hydration.
#6: Laneige Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Serum
What it is: A creamy serum formulated with blue hyaluronic acid, peptides, and green tea enzymes for hydration, firmness, and light exfoliation.
Pros: I'm a snob about hyaluronic acid serums, and this is a very good one, to say the least. It absorbs immediately, plumping skin on contact.
Cons: Like most hyaluronic acid serums, this needs a product on top to seal it in. The packaging is made of plastic and a bit bulky.
#5: Laneige Hydro UV Defense Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50+
What it is: A lightweight, invisible-finish sunscreen formulated with centella asiatica to soothe skin and mineral water for hydration.
Pros: This lightweight sunscreen doesn't leave a white cast, feels hydrating, and sinks in easily. It works well under most makeup and gives skin a dewy finish.
Cons: This is a chemical formula, so you should opt for a different sunscreen if you'd rather use a mineral formula. It's also not water-resistant, so use something else if you plan on swimming or sweating.
#4: Laneige Glowy Makeup Serum
What it is: A hydrating, oil-mitigating serum that creates a grippy base for makeup thanks to diamond mineral powder that boosts glowiness, a technology that helps makeup last longer, and ceramides for hydration.
Pros: I'm truly not a primer person. I think it's generally an unnecessary makeup step that sometimes just makes things pill for me, which is why I first tried this primer with a healthy dose of skepticism. It's quickly become my go-to, however, since it makes my makeup look impossibly glowy and helps it last a long time.
Cons: Drier skin might need even more hydration under makeup.
#3: Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask
What it is: A hypoallergenic overnight mask made with fermented forest yeast extract to soothe, calm, and reduce redness.
Pros: When I say this overnight mask works wonders on irritation, I mean it. If I have dry or red patches, slathering this on as the last step in my skincare routine ensures I wake up with calm, smooth, and less-irritated skin.
Cons: None, in my opinion.
#2: Laneige Lip Glowy Balm
What it is: A lip balm-gloss hybrid packed with nourishing ingredients like murumuru and shea butter to keep the lips hydrated throughout the day.
Pros: This lip balm is next-level for providing intense hydration and a dreamy shine to lips. I'm partial to the gummy bear flavor, which truly smells like candy (and not in a bad way!), but any of the flavors are lovely.
Cons: None, in my opinion.
#1: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
What it is: A leave-on lip mask packed with a berry complex to infuse antioxidants, coconut oil, shea butter, and murumuru seed butter to moisturize, and vitamin C to renew.
Pros: Ahh, the Laneige product that catapulted the brand to fame. This is the holy grail Laneige product, and if you buy one thing from the brand, it should be its Lip Sleeping Mask. It leaves your lips plump, full, and pillowy, and one jar lasts a long time. This is one of those viral products that are truly worth the hype in every way.
Cons: Perhaps the only con is that it isn't never-ending.
