These Boots Are Going to Be Huge Come Fall

Welcome to Runway Matters, where we're delivering notes straight from the runway so you can quickly digest the most important trends and noteworthy moments from the F/W 18 shows.

When your brand has New York in its name, there’s probably a little extra pressure to really pull out all the stops during NYFW. However, that’s something that Kate Spade New York has always excelled at: making each new collection presentation feel fun, special, and a lot like a celebration. For fall 2018, it was no different.

Not only did the historical building where today's show was held blow us away, the collection's country theme instantly charmed us as well. Yes, that meant lots of leather, frilly tops, and denim. However, there was also no shortage of true NYC girl essentials, including pretty puffer jackets, statement heels, and an accessory that helps you get your act together once and for all. Here’s what to know from today’s show.

The Show’s Unexpected Star

The venue of the Kate Spade New York show was nothing short of breathtaking. It took place at the Masonic Hall in Chelsea, where golden stage lights and beautiful mezzanine seating that wrapped around the space floored all the attendees. It was #InstaWorthy, to say the least.

The Year of the Horse

While technically we’re currently in the Year of the Dog, Kate Spade’s collection had a very strong equestrian vibe happening. And we’re not mad about it one bit.

The Technical Advantage

Most models were sporting the same accessory during the presentation: the brand’s latest iteration of a smartwatch. The piece blended in nicely with the collection, proving that this lineup was clearly designed for the woman who’s on the edge as far as personal style and personal organization.

The Shoes to Start Saving For

With an overall Western-inspired theme, the boots were the most covetable pieces in the presentation. There were sleek, deep burgundy pairs and pretty, flower-covered designs. Whatever your poison, we’ll wager you’ll be feeling a little bit country come fall.

The Crowd to Rub Elbows With

Kate Spade’s presentations usually feel more like a party (drinks, snacks, and live music, included!), and its attendees are always the girls you wish you were IRL friends with. We found ourselves floating around actresses including Lucy Hale, Natalia Dyer, Jamie Chung, and Rachel Bloom, all while taking a peek at the new collection.
