I'm a Fashion Editor—These Are the Only Jackets I'd Wear When It's Below 40ºF
It's somehow already November, and I'm still trying to process how quickly the year flew by. This stretch between now and the new year is easily my favorite—there's so much to look forward to, everything feels a little more festive, and everyone seems to be in brighter spirits. But as much as I love this time of year, I can't say I'm thrilled about the cold that comes with it. I'm all for fall layering, but true winter dressing is unfamiliar territory for me. Growing up in Los Angeles and going to college in Miami means my cold-weather tolerance is nonexistent—60ºF is practically freezing to me.
Even though it doesn't get truly cold in L.A. (by my standards, at least) until later in the year, I've already been stressing about finding jackets that can handle the temperature drop and still work with my outfits. And with a New York trip coming up soon, the pressure's really on. One of my first destinations for functional yet fashionable winter jackets was The North Face. I have a puffer from when I was 16 that still looks as good as new, so I knew it was the perfect place to look for updated styles. This season's selection feels especially strong, with everything from timeless puffers in standout colors to sleek, tailored parkas that read more street-style chic. If you've also been stressing about finding winter jackets that'll keep you warm without sacrificing style, these picks from The North Face are the answer.
Puffers
While I own a North Face puffer that's held up for years, I'm definitely in need of a fresh one, and these styles are hard to resist. The new Tawny Quartz shade immediately caught my eye. I've been so into wearing brown recently—it's refined yet versatile, the kind of color that pairs seamlessly with everything from denim to tailored trousers.
Fleeces
I may not love the cold, but I do love a good fleece. They're insanely cozy, comfortable, and are the ideal layering piece when you want to stay warm without feeling bulky. I reach for them on more low-key days, whether I'm heading to a Pilates class or running errands.
Parkas
These are definitely at the top of my packing list for my upcoming New York trip—they're seriously warm but still look refined. The silhouettes are sleek enough to pair with just about anything, making them the ultimate mix of functional and chic.
More Jackets I Love
I was so impressed with The North Face's lineup that I had to include a few more favorites, including cropped bombers, polished puffers, and fashion-forward vests. They're stylish enough to elevate any outfit while still delivering the warmth you'll need all winter long.
