Sweater weather is here, people, and that means waving farewell to #hotgirlsummer and preparing ourselves to cozy up in our favorite new-season knits. Not that we’re alone in our excitement over this idea: Dog mom, interior design extraordinaire, and style maven Jess Kirby tells us she’s gearing up for the season ahead by investing in pieces from Splendid. Kirby’s style has that whole cozy, chic Nancy Meyers–movie thing going on, so she’s clearly the one to turn to for seriously cute sweater content. We asked Kirby to fill us in on how she shops for cozy pieces this season, and guess what? Plaid is involved. Keep on scrolling for major fall dressing inspiration from the Newport, Rhode Island–based influencer.
Your style is on the classic side—how do integrate this into your approach to fall dressing?
Ilove sticking to neutral basics I can wear over and over again. I picked up these Splendid pieces because they can be seamlessly incorporated into my existing wardrobe. I’ll always say yes to a beige duster.
Why these Splendid pieces?
They’re made with silk and cashmere, two super-luxe fabrics that are feel cozy for fall. They’re super soft and drapey, but they also have that effortlessly cool vibe I love.
What are some key pieces you’re relying on as we transition our wardrobes from summer to fall?
In New England, it’s all about layering, and these Splendid pieces make that so easy. Bring along a beige cashmere knit to throw on over a midi knit dress that looks chic on its own (or can be layered under a cozy cardigan for chillier days).
I’m a fan of both, butI love this pared-down plaid cardigan for fall. It’s neutral enough to wear so many ways, and it can easily be dressed up or down.
Where do you see yourself wearing these soft, cozy outfits?
The best thing about these pieces is you can wear them pretty much anywhere. I’d throw on the leggings and cashmere cardigan with sneakers to walk the dogs, or dress it up with booties for dinner in town.
If you had to describe your ideal cozy day, what would it entail?
An early morning beach walk with the dogs, a big breakfast at home, and then curling up on the couch with the dogs for a Netflix marathon.
