I Shop for a Living—6 Chic Pieces I'm Buying to Fill the Gaps in My Closet

It's usually around the mid-season point that I start to notice what my closet might be missing at the moment. Sometimes, it might be a trend that I've become smitten with, or it can be something as simple as needing an updated basic or two to round things out. Such is the case this winter—I took inventory of my current rotation and pinpointed what I felt would come in handy as the season progresses.
From trending textured sweaters to elevated earrings and elegant dark jeans, I narrowed my list down to six chic pieces that would give my closet the stylish boost it needs. I turned to some of my favorite retailers like Nordstrom, J.Crew, Net-a-Porter, Gap, and Madewell to see what fit the bill. Keep scrolling to shop a breakdown of my favorites. They are all bound to receive an abundance of compliments.
Neutral Blazers
My closet has its fair share of black blazers, so neutral options are calling my name. I am especially interested in gray, camel, brown, and denim options at the moment.
Elevated Earrings
My outfits never feel complete without a lovely pair of earrings. I've currently been reaching for simple huggie hoops, but more elevated styles now have my attention.
Standout Basic Tops
Whether it's with an interesting neckline or some other special detail, I like to keep an eye out for basic tops that stand out among the rest. These tops are guaranteed to elevate any look.
Dark-Wash Denim
If you follow my stories, then you'll likely know about my new love for dark denim styles. These jeans always manage to look so cool and elegant all at once.
Textured Sweaters
This season is all about textured sweaters. When it comes to shopping trends, I try to pick classic styles whenever I can—anything to lengthen the life of the piece.
Classic Belts
Belts will always come in handy, but for the past few seasons, the classic accessory has grabbed the attention of the fashion set. It's yet another simple piece that boosts any ensemble.
