I Tried the Facial Sculpting Treatment That's Popular With Celebs

I have been hearing a lot about Dr. Jason B. Diamond, M.D., F.A.C.S., of The Diamond Face Institute in Beverly Hills, a plastic surgeon who specializes in facial work. With fans including everyone from Kim Kardashian to Chrissy Teigen to January Jones—celebs known for their incredible skin. So I had to see what all of the buzz was about. To get a firsthand look at the magic of Dr. Diamond, I scheduled an appointment for a Diamond Facial Sculpting session.

Rather than an invasive surgical procedure, the treatment uses filler to augment and redefine facial features by placing them deep into the tissues. For my treatment, we focused on the jaw to contour that area—an area that Diamond explained is very popular on the celeb set because it immediately enhances their jawline for red carpet and street style photos. While I didn't know exactly what to expect, I was blown away by the results. Ahead, read about my experience and see the before and afters.

The Treatment

The treatment began with a numbing cream that was left on my face and upper neck. While this would normally only be applied to the jawline, I was also treating other areas of my face.

Once my skin was completely numb after about 45 minutes, the dermal filler began. While the injections were relatively painless, the most surprising part was the crunching sound that occurred at the injection site—something Diamond explained was completely normal. Immediately following, I applied ice to ease any swelling.

I left the appointment with skin that looked red and slightly tender to the touch. In the following days, there was slight bruising, but it cleared up within several days. There was no downtime and the results were immediate.

Here, you can see a photo of what my jawline looked like before the treatment. As you can see, there isn't much definition.

After

Diamond explained that the results aren't permanent and can last for up to 18 months, so it is a treatment that requires periodical touch-ups.

My jaw actually dropped when I saw the difference in my jawline after the treatment. As you can see in this photo, my jawline is much more chiseled from the side but still looks very natural. I could instantly see a major difference in photos and can now understand why this treatment is so popular among celebrities who constantly have a camera pointed at them.
