The 5 Denim Trends to Know This Year
Retailers know better than anyone what's selling right now, along with what their shoppers are looking for next. So when major e-tailer Net-a-Porter reached out with its 2018 denim guide, we were eager to hear its take on the styles to know. To break it all down, Global Fashion Director Lisa Aiken curated her picks and offered commentary on what she's most excited to shop this year.
Below, you'll find five specific ways women will be buying (and wearing) denim in the coming months. From the hues to add to your rotation now to the brands bringing back your favorite throwback styles, you'll want to get a jump start on shopping the jean trends that come fashion week will be on every street style star (likely including Aiken herself).
Straight-Leg Jeans
"At the moment, 40% of sales on jeans are coming from straight-leg fits in rigid or stretch rigid fabrics," notes Aiken.
Deep Indigo
Ready to switch things up? Try swapping black jeans for a rich indigo. There's something polished and crisp about this hue.
White Denim
Whether it be a crisp white or a just-off hue of ivory, expect to see super-light denim everywhere in 2018 (before labor day too).
'90s Denim
It's time to take a trip back to the '90s, and break out the grunge-inspired denim (think oversize, acid wash, and distressed details) and rigid silhouettes of the past.
Head-to-Toe Denim
According to Net-a-Porter's team, the Canadian tuxedo will be big for spring. The way you choose to pair denim on denim is your choice.
