The satchel has long been a mainstay of timeless bags. While some silhouettes come and go with the seasons—the bucket, the backpack, and the baguette, to name a few—the satchel sees new iterations each season, and pulling out an old piece in the genre is rarely ever frowned upon.
Proenza Schouler made the satchel its staple leather good with the now iconic PS1, but even Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have sought new ways to rework the time-tested silhouette in a decidedly more structured direction. Other designers experiment with constructions that intermix similar styles, like the saddle bag. One thing's for certain: As various It bags come in and out of fashion, the satchel bag will continue to be a time-tested classic to keep around.
