I’m not trying to say I’m desperate for a vacation (my boss could certainly be reading this—hi, Sharon), but I will say that I’ve been spending a pretty significant portion of my waking hours thinking about setting my out-of-office reply, packing up my vintage hard-shell suitcase, and spending a good week exploring Mexico City with my best friend from college.
H&M’s summer collection is apparently also ready to get out of town. Not that you need a vacation to wear these vacation-worthy pieces: These wide-leg linen pants will look just as cool anchoring a head-to-toe neutral look for work as they will sitting at an outside table for an afternoon wine in La Condesa. Whatever your plans, the H&M options currently in my shopping cart (see below) are here to ensure we all have the most effortlessly stylish summer ever…
[Ed. note: Psst—H&M’s new loyalty program is launching just in time for summer… Visit the website to sign up and start earning points; join by May 29 and get 20% off your next purchase.]
Picture these pants + an old-school camera + a really, really good little sidewalk cafe (charcuterie and a good bottle of wine highly recommended mandatory).
Comfortable, cute, and totally ready for the numerous photo ops your next long-weekend getaway may present (but also totally fine for Fridays at the office).
Located: the do-it-all white tank every summer wardrobe requires. Saving this one for my visit to El Zócalo (and museum-hopping nearby).
The oatmeal hue the Instagram set can’t get enough of… Pair with pieces in a similar hue to really run with the neutral-on-neutral thing.
For real rich-mysterious-aunt-with-a-ridiculously-elegant-wardrobe-who-always-seems-to-be-on-vacation-in-Europe vibes…
Because you’re definitely going to want to pack more than one pair of shorts…
Yes, snakeskin continues to slink into all our favorite warm-weather looks. Nice and comfortable, which is important, given all the walking I’m going to be doing.
Exactly what you want to be wearing while sipping on a Paloma by the pool, no?
(Here’s the matching bottoms; feel free to mix and match, though!)
From the burnt-orange hue to the breezy fabric, these were pretty much made for alfresco summer cocktails on my Airbnb’s amazing rooftop patio.
One of the brightest picks in the bunch, this relaxed top lends itself well to traipsing around Parque México (always my first stop in CDMX).
The fashion set clearly has an infatuation with this orange juice–esque hue for summer (no complaints here). This one was meant for wandering the streets of Roma.
This metallic one-piece is the real star of the show… Beyond the beach, if you’re feeling a bit adventurous, you can wear it as a bodysuit for very glam Studio 54 vibe.
The utility trend continues its uncontested reign in the form of these stylish but simple black shorts I’ll be wearing for my day trip to Teotihuacán.
The easiest answer to any summer dressing dilemma… Add sandals for a casual day-trip look, and layer in a very on-trend cardigan once the sun begins to set.
Wear it as a sleek swimsuit cover-up or a laid-back dress—a simple switch of accessories and this piece can do it all.
