What’s the trick to achieving a standout hostess’ outfit?
“Go all out! Think of a more idealized vision of yourself and try to play up to it. I like to be dressy, and I think most of my guests enjoy the fun and splendor of dressing up. As the hostess, you should lead by example, but try to be comfortable. You don’t want to be worried about your appearance while guests are relying on you to lead the party.”
What inspired your holiday party this year?
“Confetti and Downton Abbey.”
What colors inspired your stylish winter tablescape?
“I love using a darker palette during the winter months. To offset the dark black table and black Depression glass tableware, I also used deep greens, a touch of copper, and deep burgundy flowers, as well as bright coral flowers, to bring warmth to my tabletop.”
What’s your favorite sparkling cocktail?
“The classic champagne cocktail! Soak a small sugar cube with Angostura bitters and drop it into a coupe glass. Fill the glass with Chandon, and garnish with an orange twist if you feel so inclined.”
What's the perfect fête favor for guests?
“The cocktail napkins I created are a perfect treat for a guest—something perhaps they might use at their own holiday party or save for later as a memento from this particular holiday season. A small, unexpected luxury to take home.”
“The bubbles and sparkles of Chandon feel like confetti in my mouth, so the napkins are really about that for me. They’re also playful, abstract, and colorful—three things I think every host or hostess should aspire to create when throwing a party.”
“They feel lovely and luxurious in your hand, plus it’s much better to use real napkins that are washable as opposed to paper ones that just get tossed into the trash.”
Describe the perfect toast.
“Something clever and unusual. My husband says he fell in love with me when I gave a toast to the logic of the assembly line.”

“The donuts are from BabyCakes, and they are almost too delicious to share. They’re gluten-free and dairy-free. They melt in your mouth in the most satisfying, buttery way. It’s impossible to eat just one, and they’re such an easy treat to devour while standing at a party.”
Do you recall the most memorable party invitation you’ve ever received?
“Unfortunately, none. My mom received an invitation to lunch at the White House. Does that count by proxy?”
