Here's How to Create a Fall Capsule Wardrobe Like an NYC Girl

Sponsor Content Created With AG

Welcome to Weekday Wardrobe, a series in which one Who What Wear editor or staffer will snap a pic of the outfits they wear from Monday to Friday. We'll break down where you can shop it all to inspire your own everyday style, no matter what's on your weekly agenda.

I just got home from spending three weeks in NYC (I promise I'm not trying to make anyone jealous), and while I was there, I accumulated more chic and effortless fall outfit ideas than I can count. Many of these outfit formulas consist of denim, leather jackets, and simple knits—items that East Coast–based WWW editor Jasmine Fox-Suliaman tells me are part of every NYC girl's capsule wardrobe. (She would know!) She's currently shopping these seasonal essentials from AG and even styled five outfits to show me exactly how she's wearing them in real life. I'll be copying them ASAP, and you should, too.

"When Monday comes around, I want something I can throw on to look good with minimal effort, so I landed on wearing this AG denim jumpsuit. I love this piece because the oversize fit makes it comfortable to wear while working at home, but it's also chic enough to dress up with a pair of boots and a mini bag for press appointments around the city. It's the ideal piece to make rolling out of bed on Monday sound appealing." — Jasmine Fox-Suliaman, editor

"I'm not a fan of skinny jeans—I'm all about the wide-leg silhouette. I love this pair because it perfectly taps into the relaxed-denim trend we've seen all over the fall 2022 runways. Plus, these jeans can be dressed up or down depending on where my day takes me. Here, I chose to keep the styling simple by pairing the jeans with a black turtleneck, platforms, and a woven tote for a look that was perfect to wear to work and then to opening night at a gallery." — Fox-Suliaman

"You can summarize the best part of fall in one word: sweaterdresses. They're one of my favorite staples, so I was super excited to wear this gray, ribbed, jersey-knit dress because it's the ideal base for the perfect fall look. It's wonderful because you can dress it up with a blazer and pumps for the office, or you can create a more casual, off-duty look like I did by styling it with a denim jacket, suede ankle boots, and a matching bag. Plus, it's the most comfortable piece to throw on and go mid-week." — Fox-Suliaman

"Come Thursday, I often feel the most inclined to get creative with my outfits. This week, I wanted to tap into the heavy-duty leather and denim skirt trends we've seen all over fall 2022 runways and social media, so I chose to pair the two pieces with a tank and metallic accessories. The leather jacket has to be the most decadent leather piece I've ever worn, and the tank fits perfectly, which is hard to find for those of us with larger busts. But what I loved most about this look is that it's polished enough to wear to work while having just the right amount of edginess." — Fox-Suliaman

"I'm a sucker for vegan-leather pants, so I knew I had to try on this pair from AG. I wanted to wear a great pair of pants that seamlessly transition from work to the weekend, so I styled these with pumps, a wrap top, and a shoulder bag. This look is something you can wear out of the office and straight into the weekend." — Fox-Suliaman
