FP Movement Is Taking Wellness to New Heights—I Visited the Space to See for Myself
What better way to kick off the season of giving than inspiring young girls to show up as their best selves? FP Movement is taking its nine-year partnership with Girls Inc. to the next level with a modern wellness space that furthers their joint mission to empower girls to be strong, smart, and bold. When I heard about this, I happily took a train from Brooklyn to Philadelphia to get a first look. Spoiler alert: It did not disappoint.
On Thursday, November 6, my driver pulled up to the beloved Bok Building in South Philly. From the outside, it looks like a typical school, but inside, it houses everything from a bar and restaurant to art studios to workspaces—and now, the Free to Be Me Wellness Center. As soon as you walk into the newly renovated space, the vibe shifts from a middle school hallway to the cozy oasis of every girl's dreams, filled with mood lighting, yoga mats, blocks, weights, affirmations, and the kind of comfy bean bag chairs you begged your mom for.
Dare I say this space was healing my inner child? Imagine getting off the bus after a long day of school and being able to spend a couple of hours in a calm, open sanctuary where you can journal, read, take art classes, do group yoga, participate in workshops, and above all, practice mindfulness and self-care. I wish I had access to something like this growing up, and I'm thrilled that girls living in Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey are encouraged to prioritize their mental health in this space. It wouldn't be a WWW story without some style inspiration, so here's my outfit breakdown along with some of my top picks from Free People and FP Movement. The best part? FP Movement donates 1% of its net proceeds directly to Girls Inc. (This Thanksgiving, 100% of net proceeds will be donated.) And on that note, happy shopping!
