This Chic Watch Keeps Going Even When I'm Off the Clock

My morning routine is go, go, go: I have to get ready, walk the dog, answer emails, and generally try to get out the door on time. Weekends and evenings are the exact opposite in our household, especially on date nights in. These are the times I finally get to turn my brain off (I don't even want the responsibility of choosing the movie—that's on my husband), wind down, put my phone on Do Not Disturb, and tuck it out of sight. But I still want to keep track of the time without constantly checking my phone. Enter my Citizen* Fio watch, which is powered by light—literally any** source of light. It's very convenient for someone whose Friday-night priority is thinking as little as possible.

Staying in doesn't mean I skip getting ready. My time in front of the vanity mirror is very important. It's where I put on a little lipstick, make sure my hair is cooperating, and of course, decide which watch to wear. The Libra in me struggles with the decision, but tonight I'm wearing gold jewelry, so gold it is. Plus, it looks perfect paired with a green blazer and dark-wash jeans. While I make sure my slicked-back bun is as tight as humanly possible, my Fio watch is powered via the light by my mirror.

A Friday night at home always requires a good meal. I usually pretend I'm going to cook, but let's be real: by the time I make it to the kitchen, my husband has already ordered my favorite pizza. My contribution is finding the perfect chilled bottle of red wine. And would you believe me if I told you my watch can even pick up power from the fridge light? I'll leave the science to the technology people; I'm simply here to reap the benefits.

Finally, the best part: lights off, movie on. A movie my husband chose, obviously. I click off the lamp, turn on the TV, and yes, even that light can help power my watch. At this point, my phone is nowhere to be found, dinner is handled, and I have absolutely nothing left to decide. Exactly how I like my Friday nights.
