>Fashion designers becoming film directors is not a new idea. Tom Ford has done it successfully (twice.) But now the sisterly duo behind some of the prettiest and most original creations we've ever seen on a runway are switching gears to create their first full-length feature—and it stars a very familiar face.
>Kate and Laura Mulleavy, best known as the co-founders of Rodarte, have cast one of their most famous muses, Kirsten Dunst, in their debut film, Woodshock. The trailer was released today, and it’s pretty obvious that the pair’s keen eye for gorgeous, fantasy-inspired aesthetics has translated to the big screen. Except this time, the beauty is a bit unsettling, acting as the backdrop for a thriller in which Dunst plays a “haunted young woman spiraling in the wake of profound loss,” according to the film’s synopsis.
>Furthermore, when described as a “hypnotic exploration of isolation, paranoia, and grief,” Woodshock seems like quite a 180 for the Mulleavy sisters—one we wouldn’t mind lining up for.
>Below, check out the film’s trailer and poster, and then stay tuned: It’s set to arrive in theaters soon.
