We’ve all been there. You wake up, it’s still dark outside, and it’s cold—and while you want to look stylish, you just can’t be bothered to try and whip up an outfit that’s both fashion forward and practical first thing in the morning. If you’ve ever found yourself reaching for black jeans and turtleneck a few too many days in a row, don’t worry, it's almost a universal truth: Winter dressing is hard.
Because we understand all-too-well what it’s like to feel stuck in a winter-wardrobe rut, we couldn’t think of anyone better to ask than a professional stylist. In conjunction with the new service C.R. Concierge hosted by Country Road at the brand’s new Bondi Junction flagship, we reached out to internationally-renowned stylist Marina Didovich for her advice—and our winter style is about to get a whole lot better because of it. To find out the four key tricks a stylist uses to transform winter outfits, keep scrolling.

1. Elevate your tailored pants
"A turned cuff will do wonders to your look. You can ensure you’re on top of new season trends by keeping a cropped hemline as part of your look. Show about 2 cm of skin between your ankle bone and hemline to make your shoes the hero."
2. Layer with a turtleneck
"A high-neck under a blazer or dress not only adds warmth, it looks chic too. Try opting for a fabric with sheen or texture to pull your look together even more."
3. Double up on denim
"Denim on denim is a huge trend this winter which is easy to achieve with existing denim in your wardrobe. Try pairing your button down denim shirt tucked in to a matching denim wash on the bottom."
4. Swap your tee for a knit
"A knit doesn't have to be a layering piece. Swap out your fav tee or shirt with a basic knit with nothing underneath- and don’t forget to tuck the front hem into your trousers. This will instantly elevate your look."
And there you have it: A stylist's guide to refreshing your wardrobe this winter.
