Are you as upset as we are that Mad Men is coming to an end—FOREVER—tomorrow night? Well, let’s just say this editor can barely talk about it without getting choked up.
Among the many wonderful aspects of the show that we’ll miss, the incredible fashion is high on the list. Seeing the characters transform over time has been an absolute joy to watch, and we’re not sure how we’ll get by without that regular nostalgic style fix.
But in the meantime, we've decided to give the show a proper send-off by considering what the four main female characters might wear today!
Join us in giving Mad Men one last hurrah, and check out the selections below.
Known for wearing '50s housewife staples like cinched-waist dresses in gingham or floral print, Betty has always had classically pretty style in the way of Grace Kelly or Jackie O.
J.Crew Collection + Thomas Mason Embellished Cotton-Poplin Dress ($550)
Aurélie Bidermann Cheyne Gold-Plated Pearl Earrings ($190)
Although Peggy's initial style was a little dowdy, it transformed quickly as she rose through the ranks of the ad world. Though she has never been "stylish" as decreed by the pages of that era's Vogue, her quirky, colorful separates have been a joy to see.
Megan has always been the most experimental dresser on the show, seemingly trying out every new trend as it comes her way (mod, bohemian, etc.) and essentially working as a living metaphor for the changing times.
Stella McCartney Mini Baby Bella Shaggy Deer Tote ($1055)
Joan's style has always been the height of workplace chic, with her tending to opt for close-cut sheaths in jewel tones, usually topped off with the most elegant gems and a great structured bag.
Victoria Beckham Navy Cutout-Shoulder Sheath Dress ($2495)
