What Fashion Week Is Actually Like for Australia’s Top Bloggers

Fashion week seems like a glamorous, week-long party—and sometimes it is—but there's also a lot of hard work that happens behind the scenes that never makes it onto Instagram.

In the lead up to Fashion Week Australia, we tapped two of Australia’s biggest fashion bloggers—Tash Sefton and Elle Ferguson of They All Hate Us—to find out what the busiest week on the Australian fashion calendar is actually like for a top blogger (or two). Keep scrolling to find out!

1. The day starts REALLY early

"The first show may start at 9 a.m. but our day starts at around 4:30 a.m. Uploading blog posts, hair and makeup and filming... It's a crack of dawn alarm clock kind of situation."

2. Your car becomes your 'everything'

"We always drive to Carriageworks in Sydney's Redfern, where the majority of shows are held. The car pretty much acts as our mobile office, wardrobe and restaurant... We've been known to have some of our finest moments in the people mover!"

3. You have to eat on the run

"I ALWAYS pack food in whatever bag I take... Big or small, I'll have some sort of food hidden in my bag because I get SO hungry. There aren't many chances to grab a bite to eat, so you have to improvise and eat on the run."—Elle

4. Outfits are spontaneous

"I sometimes leave my outfit until the last minute… I've been known to visit The Intersection in Paddington on the morning of a show to buy a completely new outfit... Hilarious, actually!"—Elle

5. Things don't always go to plan

"I set up a clothing rail of outfits a few days before to plan my daily looks, however I usually end up leaving the house wearing something completely random and unplanned. I’ve worn everything from my husband's shirts, to his jeans (after I've attacked them with kitchen scissors), to Elle's denim shorts! The list goes on."—Tash

6. Little shortcuts are necessary

"We don't always have time to wash our hair as we start so early and get home so late—so we have cans of dry shampoo ready. It sounds really gross, but it’s one of those things you just have to do!"

7. Your family WILL miss you

"I pre-cook dinners for my family and freeze them in advance because I'm MIA for the entire week."—Tash
