Actress, screenwriter, and animal activist Nikki Reed grew up in L.A., and she made her big-screen debut in 2003’s Thirteen. Reed has since made waves playing the part of Rosalie Hale in The Twilight Saga, and in 2015, she was one of the stars featured in Lady Gaga’s “Til It Happens To You” music video. The 27-year-old volunteers at animal shelters and has partnered with brands like Gilt, with whom she designed a limited-edition collar to benefit the ASPCA. In 2013, Reed joined forces with Freedom of Animals, a cruelty-free luxury line of sustainable bags honoring animal rights. Freedom of Animals, is partnered with the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya, where a percentage of each sale is donated to aid wildlife conservation and the rehabilitation of orphaned elephants and rhinoceroses.

There's no path to follow, only passion to accompany a dream. I'd say the greatest challenge is staying focused on that vision you have for yourself, knowing that distractions and self-doubt will inevitably arise. Believing in yourself and believing you can do the impossible is the only way, but it must be accompanied by hard work. Nothing compares to being truly devoted and spending time learning about that thing you love. Create armor with knowledge. Create confidence through understanding yourself and your passion. And know that there's always more to learn. I had a very unconventional upbringing, not your typical recipe for success and despite the many "no's" I encounter on a daily basis I still believe that starting with a gentle knock on every door that's closed will eventually lead to one that'll open.
