We all know that great style is not limited to a certain clothing size. That’s where The 12ish Style comes in—a fashion blog by Katie Sturino dedicated to women sizes 12 to 18-ish. In her new column for Who What Wear, Katie will offer up her shopping tips, styling tricks, and outfit inspiration for women who aren’t a size 2.
As a plus-size fashion blogger, one of my favorite ways to find everyday outfit inspo is to scope out what celebs are wearing on vacay or out on the streets, and then re-create their looks in my size. After all, they have access to the best stylists and coolest brands in the business, so why not let them (and their teams) do all the heavy lifting?
Celeb inspiration is especially great when it comes to pulling off the season’s must-have styles. When a trend hits, it’s immediately shoppable at every price point and in every size, making it easy for anyone to scoop up. As for how to put it all together? That’s where the celebs come in. Case in point, Shay Mitchell’s flirty skirt set and Kourtney Kardashian’s cool off-duty look zero in on two of this summer’s best trends: gingham and track pants. Both are chic and so easy to re-create.
Go on to see how I get inspired by these celebs’ must-copy outfits.
The Shay Mitchell–Inspired Look
A lot of ladies think they need washboard celeb abs to pull off a cropped top, but when paired with a high-waisted skirt, anyone can look and feel amazing in this style. Head-to-toe gingham paired with an off-the-shoulder top make a major fashion statement. Do like Shay and keep the rest of the look minimal with simple sandals and sunnies (red lip optional).
The Kourtney Kardashian–Inspired Look
First things first, Kourtney's track pants are Gucci, but yours don’t have to be. A white tank keeps the look streamlined, but make sure you tuck it in à la Kourtney for extra polish. Take the look to the next level with nude heels and a lady bag for the perfect mix of street and style.
