Valentino designers Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri took couture to a different level today. Their Grecian-themed S/S 16 show was a truly divine collection of flowing column gowns with Greco-Roman design and Eastern Roman embellishments. The inspiration was apparent in each piece, from the white gowns with gentle gold impressions and a twisted knot down one arm to the floor-length patterned kimonos or even the high-neck tulle dresses. All of this was topped off with impeccable Grecian headpieces and body jewelry. However, even with the rich hues and astonishing detail in Valentino’s new collection, the contrast of bare feet and a simple gold runway made each look feel that much more delicate.
