Just a few weeks ago I popped into Marks & Spencer to try on a few of its new-in items. Keen to try a good mix, I selected a few jackets and knitwear pieces as well as some jeans and took to the changing rooms. Whilst I had a largely successful trip, I'm still thinking about a particular pair of jeans that have been on my mind since I walked out the door.

Whilst I was drawn to the black pair, these jeans also come in mid-blue and light-blue washes. I styled mine with a chunky lug-sole boot, but I think they'd look chicer still if paired with a kitten heel or pointed-toe boot. If looser shapes are your go-to this is a great way to rejuvenate your jeans selection whilst staying true to your favourite cut. This pair fit true to size, with the looser shape offering comfort as well as the soft denim fabric. Style Notes: I'd heard great things about the Way-High Jean so was really excited to see how these fit. These are a classic straight-leg style with a nice high waist silhouette, a truly versatile shape and cut. The Way-High comes in eleven wash choices and three leg lengths, here I've gone for the dark indigo wash with an inseam of 27.5". The style fits true to size, and here I've taken my normal size 27. Whilst there is a bit of stretch, these are definitely a more rigid denim which made for a great fit. If you prefer a looser waistband for comfort, I'd suggest sizing up.

Style Notes: Baggy jeans have become a mainstay cut in fashion people's wardrobes, but finding the right balance of wide leg silhouette and fitted waist can be hard. Again, the waist is a high-rise style which helps to elongate the leg. Considering how integral they've been to fashion over the past couple of years, it might surprise you to learn that it's only now that I've invested in a pair of wide-leg jeans of my own. The silhouette, which I've always admired from afar for its ability to make outfits feel more current, has been a source of intimidation for me.
