Off the back of quiet luxury and stealth wealth, the sheer pinks, milky shades and understated chromes have been the dominating shades we've collectively been wearing. In fact, in some cases we've been shunning any nail polish at all, with bare nails also making a resurgence.

And whilst I do love a timeless nail colour trend, this summer, I've noticed brighter pedicure colours slowly making a comeback on the pedicured feet of celebrities after years of pared-back neutrals. And Hailey Bieber just stepped out with the most refreshing pedicure colour I've seen in ages. And it's the perfect shade for summer.

I can't remember the last time I saw a bright pedicure colour on Hailey, and this azure blue is quite possibly the summeriest shade to grace her toes. In fact, she's also gone for the same shade for her manicure, too.

Thankfully, her manicurist, Zola Ganzorigt, shared the exact blue shade she used on Hailey's hands and feet, and it's an on-sale OPI nail colour that I'm immediately adding to my basket. I'm always on the hunt for chic, minimal and stylish nail trends to wear throughout summer. The thing is, I don't want something boring. I know, I know—how exciting can a minimal manicure be? I guess what I mean is that I want something a little different from your usual clear nail polish or French tip manicure that still fits my understated aesthetic.

Spotted on nail artist Mateja Novakovic, this sorbet manicure features a glossy, bright pink tint that makes your nails look healthy and vibrant. That being said, the sheer, sorbet-like finish keeps things natural and elegant, perfect if you prefer an everyday manicure that won't look out of place when paired with your neutral wardrobe.

Whilst Novakovic keeps things short and simple with her rounded nail shape, I also think this trend would look incredible paired with long, almond-shaped nails, too.

When it comes to nails, I consider myself a nail minimalist. I'm a beauty editor who studies nail trends for a living, but for the most part, you'll usually find a sheer pink or milky white nail colour painted on my nails, no matter the time of the year. However, during summer, I like to push the boat out just a little. And after looking for some nail art inspiration that still appeals to my pared-back aesthetic, my thumbs paused on this stunning aura nail art that came up on my feed, and I've never been more excited to try it.

Pink Aura Nails

Aura nails are similar to ombré nails in that they both blend two nail colours together. Whilst ombre transitions from one colour to another vertically, aura nails blur outwards from the centre of the nail, creating a halo-like glow around your nails. And in this strawberry colourway, it's the perfect way to dabble in something a little different from a neutral manicure for summer whilst keeping things minimalistic. It's like a blush tint for your nails.

For this look, Manicurist Mateja Novakovic used two Manucurist nail colours, including Halo for the base (a milky, shimmering pink) and centred Bloom in the middle of the nail for the bright pop of strawberry. All you have to do is apply your base colour and then use a sponge to dab on your second shade, diffusing it into a seamless transition. Finish with a top coat, and there you have your aura nail art. The strawberry manicure is shaping up to be one of the biggest summer nail trends. It's juicy and glossy, which feels playful yet polished, making it the perfect summer update on milky manicures we've been seeing for the past few seasons. What I love about a strawberry manicure is that it's a chic yet very wearable summer nail colour. The trend actually inspired me to create my new shade, Strawberry Blush. I wanted a true glassy pink for my kit; something completely sheer, with no white pigment in it. My vision was for it to look like a juicy and translucent strawberry gloss for the nails. It took around 18 months of testing and refining formulas to achieve exactly the right finish, but the final result is everything I hoped.

How to Create a Strawberry-Blush Manicure

For anyone wanting to re-create the look, nail preparation is key. I always start by thoroughly prepping the nail, focusing on creating the perfect foundation. After gently pushing back the cuticles and lightly exfoliating any dry skin around the nail, I softly buff the nail plate, cleanse with acetone and then begin the gel application.

My go-to application is Glass Base (£20), followed by Strawberry Blush Glass Gel (£25) and then Glass Top (£20). For the ultimate glossy finish, I always recommend pairing it with a high-shine base coat and top coat; that extra shine is what gives the manicure its signature glass-like finish. Once everything is cured, I perfect the shape with a final file.

Personally, I love applying it using an apex technique, which creates a beautifully smooth, curved surface that catches the light from every angle. This is where the manicure really comes to life, as the nails almost look like little glass jewels.

One of the things I love most about Strawberry Blush is how versatile it is. With just one coat, you get a flush of pink that enhances the nail's natural tone. As you build additional layers, the colour becomes more vibrant, allowing you to completely customise the effect.

The beauty of the strawberry manicure is that it can be tailored to suit everyone. Some of my clients prefer a single sheer layer for the most natural result, whilst others love a more built-up, pinker flush of colour. I like layering a milky nude shade underneath, then applying a single coat of Strawberry Blush on top. It creates the most beautiful soft-pink glow for anyone who wants a hint of colour without committing to a brighter pink nail colour.

You can also personalise the look with nail art. I love adding a tiny strawberry detail on the thumb as a playful nod to the trend, but equally, the manicure is strong enough to stand on its own. Elle Gerstein (Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, and Nicole Kidman's manicurist of choice) loves a "barely there" pink shade on the nails to get in on this trend. In fact, she mentioned that some of her favourite understated manicures she's done have been with ultra-sheer pink shades and a tiny bit of pearl chrome to give it a unique finish. To add a bit of flair to a rosy, neutral pink shade, you can add 3D art or designs on the nail.

Some of my favourite understated manicures I’ve done were ultra sheer pinks with a tiny bit of pearl chrome, soft rosy beige nails with a blurred French edge and really glossy natural short nails with almost no visible colour at all. They photograph beautifully and work on everyone. As another trick, to give a truly "invisible" look, Gerstein says to try builder gel. "The true way to do these is with soft builder gels in sheer pinks because they give that healthy, natural finish," she says. "Products I love for this look are Essie [shades] Ballet Slippers and Sugar Daddy, Dazzle Dry's So On Pointe and Prima Ballerina, and Manucurist 's Active Blur. Ombré French Manicure

This look is one of my personal favourites when I'm going for an "invisible" vibe. It looks so organic on the nails and takes way less time to do than a traditional French manicure. Gerstein also loves this look. "[I love creating looks] with a blurred French edge and really glossy natural short nails with almost no visible colour at all," she shares. "They photograph beautifully and work on everyone."

Glossy Chrome Nude Nails

Another way to add sheen to an otherwise more neutral look is to add a chrome glaze on top. Gerstein loves a chrome finish and added, "a super-glossy clear manicure with really clean cuticles fits the [invisible nail] vibe."

Motyl says a natural chrome or pearl finish is also perfect for a subtle glow. "Subtle pearl or natural chrome powders [add] dimension without heaviness," she says. "These looks work beautifully because they enhance the hands without drawing excessive attention," she says.

"Invisible" Soft French Manicure

Celebrity nail artist Analysse Hernandez (whose clientele includes Kim Petras, Madison Beer, and Tate McRae) has a lot to say about the elusive yet quietly popular invisible French manicure. "My girls love the invisible soft French," she says. "It gives a very realistic nail look to an extension. This muted French can honestly be done with any colour mixed with milky white. It’s my favourite way to do a simple nail, but still has a slight change of colour for the summer."

Shtanhei also agrees that this type of French really softens the traditional design. "Traditional French can sometimes look graphic or formal, but the invisible version feels modern, lighter, and more expensive," she shares. "It gives structure to the nail, visually elongates the fingers, and makes the free edge look perfect without looking painted on."

Hernandez loves shades like OPI's Bare My Soul for a look like this, and Shtanhei's favourite is Mineral Fusion's On Pointe.

Milky White Nails

If a plain old French manicure of any kind doesn't float your boat this season, try a milky white shade on its own or paired with a thin French tip. It adds something different to your look without going over the top. While milky white is a pretty neutral shade, Shtanhei also recommends thinking about your skin's undertones if you want to find your perfect milky base. "A shade that looks invisible on one person can look too pink, too white, or too grey on another," she says. "The perfect invisible manicure is always customised."

Soap nails are the minimalist manicure that fits right in with the invisible trend. Nail artists and nail enthusiasts alike still love the look for its ultra-clean aesthetic. Shtanhei explained a bit more about this look and why she thinks it's timeless. "Soap nails are very clean, glossy, almost wet-looking nails in sheer pink, milky beige or translucent nude," she explains. "They look fresh, polished, and effortless."

Motyl also adds that choosing the right shade for you is key here. "Always choose shades that enhance the natural tone rather than mask it completely," she says. "Technique also matters just as much as product choice. Proper nail architecture, clean cuticle work, ultra-smooth surface refinement, and thin application are what truly make invisible nails look luxurious and effortless."

Gerstein also loves a sheer jelly, almost syrupy finish on the nails if you're going for an invisible look. It adds a shiny, retro vibe that feels different, but still minimalistic and pretty. "[They] make it easy to create a glowing, healthy effect," she says. "Nails Inc. has jelly-like tints to add hints of colour, Isabella is my go-to!"

Right now, there's a lot of discourse around nails—specifically bare nails. Following in the footsteps of the recent Chanel Cruise "mermaid" nails, it seems that colourful shimmers and chromes are a firm nail trend for summer 2026. Now, usually I'm a pink or milky chrome nail purist, but with the sheer pink base, this blue chrome powder mani gives the perfect nod to summer without being OTT, catching the light in the most beautiful way, like how light bounces off a glittering pool on a scorching UV index 8 day.

Novakovic created this prismatic effect by using Manucurist's Blue Glazed Powder over her nail polish. Whilst she hasn't listed the exact shade name that she has used here, I'm guessing that she used Manucurist Hortencia, a sheer pink polish that she often uses for the base of her nail art. The sheer base allows the chrome powder to really shine, giving you a glimpse of aquatic blue every time the light catches your hands. It's a chic way to dip a toe into a blue nail look if you're a nail minimalist too.

“Sheer, milky tones are still one of the biggest movements in nails, but for summer they take on a sun-kissed quality," explains Kalnina. "A milky ‘coconut’ gives that clean, glossy finish whilst enhancing a tan; it’s effortless and always looks expensive," she adds.

Red-nail girls rejoice, your favourite shade isn't going anywhere. Rather, Kalnina says it's simply evolving for 2026: "It’s becoming juicier, brighter and more playful." Heading to the salon? “Peachy-tangerine tones are taking over for high summer as a more modern way to wear brights. It gives that juicy wash of colour that feels fresh, vibrant and sun-ready," says Kalnina. We couldn't agree more.

The latest neutral that's set to be big for summer? Lilac blue. Not only does it look beautiful on all skin tones, but it's also especially perfect for those who can't seem to shake the natural nail look.

Let me set the scene. It's a sunny Saturday in London; you're sitting outside your favourite bar with friends, a spicy marg in hand, and you've just had your nails done. I'm a beauty editor who has been on a nail health journey over the past year. I'm on the quest for long and healthy nails, and so I've been testing all the best nail strengtheners and cuticle oils that come my way. However, there are two problems with this. One, these nail health products work best on bare nails (so I have to forgo my nail polish), and two, many nail strengtheners I've tested are almost always clear, which can sometimes be a bit boring and adds another step if I'm planning on putting polish on top. Ideally, I want something all in one, you know?

I'm so impressed with these nail tints. I love how plump and glossy they make my nails look, and they easily last between five and seven days, and because they're so sheer, any chips are barely visible anyway. The shades are so pretty, but I have to say Raspberry is my favourite, which delivers a sheer pink flush to the nails. No matter the shade, one coat adds a brightening tint, whereas two or three coats provide a juicier finish if you want a stronger tint. They're a great low-maintenance nail colour if you want something that strengthens your nails whilst adding a glossy glow as well. I'm excited to layer up the different shades and find a new favourite nail polish layering combo.

If there's one thing you need to know about me, it's that I love a good nail polish recommendation. After developing a sensitivity to gel polish a few years ago, I've been on the search for the best gel nail alternatives. I've tried almost every nail polish in my local drugstore. You name it, I've painted it on my nails.

Fairy Tailor is the perfect pink, IMO. It's a sheer milky nail colour with a hint of delicate pink. It's translucent, so I prefer layering up two coats for more opacity and a milkier effect. It really brightens the nail plate, so it acts like a skin tint for the nails whilst letting your natural nails shine through. It applies smoothly and dries pretty fast, too. But most importantly, it leaves a glossy lacquer and plumped finish that looks and feels very similar to gel polish. I find it also acts as a protective shield to my weak and bendy nails.

I finish it with two coats of the Gel Couture Top Coat (£12). I'd highly recommend pairing it with this nail top coat, as it really does make all the difference in how well it lasts. If you apply another coat on day seven, you can easily have your manicure last almost two weeks.

The polish contains "flex.e gel technology", which bonds to the nail and moves with your nails to prevent chipping. However, it's easy to remove with regular nail polish, unlike gel polish. I wore the Fairy Tailor shade and top coat on a recent trip where I was lugging a suitcase around, and despite being very heavy-handed with my nails this week, I've only had one small chip.
